WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140l)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (part 140l)

After another change of clothing I decided to take a break and sat down in my recliner. Elle and the girls were in the dining room going through her materials for the 4 H club that she’d agreed to be co-leader along with Ginger. Between the two they had seven female children so it was a natural for them to be in charge. It was also perfect for me as they were busy and it gave me a chance to relax. I’d been on my feet and busy since about 6:30am and it was now early afternoon. I pushed back and shut my eyes. With nothing ‘pressing’, it allowed me to put some random thoughts I’d been collecting about Barbara. Having just seen what had appeared to be a pee stain on her nightie I didn’t have to dig too deep into my previous observations about her.

The facts, as I knew them, were that she wore Lollipop cotton panties with an extra panel across the back and there had always been more of those type panties on the wash line than the nylon panties I was positive belonged to her sister each time I’d seen them. I was still puzzled by the double panel on the cotton ones but had an idea on how to get information on them. Now, putting the stain into the equation I wondered if she didn’t suffer from enuresis (bedwetting). With all of Elle’s incontinence problems I’d learned a fair amount about different types of female urinary problems. I’d learned about Spina Bifida from Sandy and about pelvic prolapse from the problems experienced by Ginger. But bedwetting as a stand alone problem for someone as old as Barbara was a bit new. I knew some children, boys and girls, experienced it but then grew out of it. If that was her problem I wondered what might’ve been the cause and what could be done about it. The one good thing about her problem was it wasn’t a condition that was a potential embarrassment for her each and every day.

I was just about asleep when the phone rang. It was my father giving me an update on the tide situation. It was receding and was now just below his dock. However, according to the clock, it was now low tide and due to start rising. That meant the tide would be rising from a point much higher than a normal high tide. He told me the wind was continuing to blow between 20 and 25 miles per hour and still out of the East. To put it simply, the strong wind was keeping the water in the bay and the next high tide would be even higher than in the morning. Not good!

Looking out the window I could see that it was still raining but not nearly as hard. In the back of my mind I knew I’d have to go pump out “B’s“ boat before dark and I wasn’t looking forward to it. I’d been wet enough. I also knew that I had to do something about getting a bigger pump. The pump ”B“ had in his boat was clearly inadequate and it annoyed me. He worked for a boating supply company and could buy all the supplies he needed at cost. There was no way I was going to use his pump again so decided to go down to the hardware store and buy a decent one just to save my arm. When I told Elle where I was going she jumped up and handed me a list of things she needed from the grocery store. Among the things that I hated to do was to grocery shop by myself. I let her know that but her retort was ”If you want to eat supper...“

My first stop was the hardware store. Sandy was there along with the owner, Ray, who I knew fairly well. The store was pretty much deserted which was to be expected with the weather as bad as it was. They were talking about a problem at Sandy’s house. It, along with my friends, Bob and Phyl, was located on and backed up to what we all knew and called the Inlet ( on the property that Elle and I used to go to to ‘park’ when we were teens). This was the first time they’d experienced such high tides. Their homes had been built with basements and the water was now seeping in. Sandy’s husband, Johnnie, only had to work a half day at school and was hope trying to cope with it. Sandy wanted to go home to help him and Ray had told her it was OK to leave. But, there was no way for him to leave what he was doing to come and get her. I remember her looking at me with what I’d call ‘doe eyes’ and kind of whispering ‘”Would you take me home?”

Of course I said I would and after picking out the pump I wanted we headed for her house. I wanted to see how Johnnie was handling the situation so went inside with Sandy. We headed for the basement and as soon as she opened the door I could see water on the floor. My immediate reaction was to be thankful that my house was located on a hill. Johnnie had two electric pumps going and was carrying a pail full of water towards the outside cellar stairs. He saw me and heaved a big sigh. As I reached the bottom of the stairs I could see he was standing in water up to his ankles. The pumps were barely able to keep up with the incoming water but couldn’t make any headway on reducing the level. He pointed to the oil burner and I could see there was only about 6 inches before the water reached it. The problem was two fold. One source was from the walls where I could see rivulets of water. The other was from the built in sump area and neither could be stopped. I looked around and saw a plastic bucket floating over in the corner behind the burner. I took off my shoes and headed for it. But, as I did I also saw some panties hanging from a line strung between the floor beams. I went over to pick it up and as I did I saw Johnnie headed up the steps to the outside. When I got to the bucket I was standing inches away from the panties and I could readily see that three of them were the ‘dribble panties’ that Elle and I’d made for her. It appeared the crotches of each were stained even more than Elle’s ‘dribble panties’. Then I saw a couple of pair of plastic panties hanging there as well. It made me wonder if her problem wasn’t getting worse.

I ended up helping to bail out the cellar for about a half hour. When we got the water down to a point where we weren't getting much into the pails I told him about having to go get the rainwater out of "B's" boat and headed out. Johnnie remained in the basement and when I got upstairs Sandy was there with a towel to dry my feet. But that wasn't all. After handing it to me she got on her tip toes and planted a kiss on my cheek. I certainly wasn't expecting that but it was appreciated.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140k)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140k)

The bad weather my father had predicted exceeded his expectations. Even though Elle and I were prepared to get up early on Tuesday, as it was the first day of the new school year, the phone woke me up. It was my father telling me that the water was up over his dock and high tide wasn’t for another two hours. Having lived in that house through a couple of hurricanes I knew what that meant. Water from the creek to the North of there would soon be flooding the road and when it did that the marina where “B’s” boat was would be pretty much under water. As added information he said that since the rain had started there was over two inches in his measuring device. I had to get to the marina to not only check on the boat but to also get it pumped out while I still could. I was on my way before Elle was out of bed.

“B’s” mooring slip was one of the protected ones so the boat was OK except for the rain water. It was over the floor boards. There was a hand pump but it was inadequate for the amount of water in the boat and it was continuing to rain. I thought my arm would fall off by the time I got the level below the floor boards. I might as well not worn the rain slicker as I was soaked from perspiration. Driving out of the marina I had to go through almost a foot of water and the tide still had an hour to rise.

I’d become so focused on “B’s” boat I completely forgot about our Sunfish still at the sailing club. I was almost home when I remembered. The clubhouse was built right out on the beach but up on four foot high cement piers. The second year of it’s existence one of the two hurricanes that hit our area picked it up and dumped it in the marshland out behind it. As I headed in that direction I could still picture the building, all askew and partially buried. Water pretty much covered the parking lot but I spied two cars over by the clubhouse. I recognized Rex, the building manager, and he and  another guy were carrying a Sunfish towards the cars. Both cars had a roof racks and they indicated that help would be appreciated. He explained that he was taking the remaining boats up to his yard and they’d already moved two of them. I looked over to the beach racks and saw mine was gone. As he strapped the boat to the car he told me that mine was already at his house. He only lived minutes away but in the short time it took the three of us to get there and back the tide had risen perceptibly. We decided to get the last two boats and float them out to the road and load them up out there. By the time we got the last one taken care of the bay water had climbed up to the third step on the clubhouse. Not a good sign.

For reasons that I didn’t understand then (or now) the first day of school was for only a half day. Jean and Anne were already home by the time I finally got there. I’d not eaten and I was starved. Elle fixed my lunch while I showered. While eating I saw a small limb and a bunch of green leaves go flying by the window. With the wind blowing from the East it had to have come from that direction... and we didn’t have a tree over in that area. I ran up to Kaye’s room and looked out towards the neighbors house. It was hard see with the rain pelting the windows but it looked like a tree had partially fallen in their back yard. I knew what that meant... they had no electricity as the service from the road went to their garage and then back to the house. It was a hold-over from when the garage had been a machine shop. I wondered how long it would be before we heard a knock on the back door.

I had no gripe with the new principal... just his wife. I knew I should go over to make sure they were OK knowing the principal was probably still at school, especially with this being his first day with classes. I’d just gotten comfortable with dry clothes and a nice bowl of soup in my tummy so I debated with myself for probably ten minutes before I got up and headed on over. There’s an old saying that “Nice guys finish last”. Well, I wasn’t in a race of any kind but when I got through the hedge I found the tree pretty much blocking my path. The leaves were all wet and as I pushed my way through, so was I, again. To make matters worse there was a big limb of the tree right across the back stoop blocking their kitchen door. I’d only put a light jacket on thinking I'd only be outside for a minute or so. By then the jacket was soaked through. I'd gone thatfar so decided to continue and walk around to the front door. Once there I found myself partially shielded from the wind and rain. However, after numerous knocks on the door, no one answered. That’s when it came to me that Phyllis, the principal’s wife, was still off running her day care. I felt like a fool... a wet one to boot. I started to walk back home when I saw someone in the window as I was passing. It was Barbara.

She motioned towards the door and I retraced my steps getting there as the door opened. I have no idea what I must’ve looked like but more importantly I almost didn’t recognize her. The ever present smile and outgoing personality were missing. The look on her face told me she’d been asleep. She wanted to know what I was doing out in the storm. When I told her she didn’t even know the tree had fallen or that they had no electricity. It was about then that I noticed that she was only wearing a shortie nightgown that went to just above her knees. I asked her if she was OK and she explained that whenever the weather turned bad and the barometric pressure fell suddenly, like it had the previous day, she ended up with a migraine headache. I could see her waking up as she talked and I suggested that she take a look out back. Walking down the hall we could see leaves from the fallen tree right up against the kitchen door window. To see the back yard we had to go over to the window over the kitchen sink. But Barbara, being so short, couldn’t really see all that much. I dragged a chair over and helped her up. As I did I could see a definite stain on the back of her nightie. Even though it was fairly dark in the kitchen without sunshine or lights I was almost positive of it. Before I could do much thinking about it she was asking what could be done about the tree and if the driveway was clear. While she was still on the chair I moved in along side her to see if I could see anything to answer her question. As I did I thought I got a whiff of pee. The driveway appeared to be clear so I helped her down. As far as the tree was concerned I told I knew a friend who had a chain saw and told her that I could probably borrow it if her father was interested. It was about then that she realized how she was dressed and kind of tried to cover herself up with her arms and started backing away from me. That was a clue for me to leave. She apologized as I made my way back down the hall to the door.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140j)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140j)

Elle was facing the girls so knew exactly where they were and let me get my hand on the wet panties for a few rubs. However, she quickly slapped my hand away and stood up. One of the girls had found a piece of driftwood with some metal attached and was headed our way. She wanted to know what it was. The timing wasn't the greatest but I looked at it and determined that it had been part of a boat that had probably been broken up in a storm. It was interesting but I would’ve been happier if she hadn’t found it. While I was talking to the girls Elle went back down the dune to the beach towel and lay down. I was about 10 to 12 feet away and was wishing I was closer. I still had the camera in my hand and the position Elle was in made for a great candid. To get rid of the girls I sent them off to find more driftwood and slowly made my way towards Elle. I couldn't figure out just what she was doing but it had her occupied and that allowed me to point the camera and push the shutter release. I don't know how I managed to do it without her seeing the camera but she didn't say anything.

Note the 2 pair of panties...

The nearest village used the same fire house siren system to let the area know it was noon time. Even though located probably two to three miles to the East, the wind carried the sound right to us. It was like a Pavlov’s dog reaction for the kids because within seconds they were back and ready to eat. Hear the siren... eat! By then the sun had continued to disappear and even though we were protected by the dune we could feel it getting a bit cooler. After eating I went to check on the wind by walking across the sand spit to the water on the Easterly side. I could feel it was now blowing at least 10 to 12 miles per hour and waves were now beating on the shore. It was normal for the wind in our area to pick up in the afternoon but this was a little early for it to be that strong. Upon returning to Elle and the kids I suggested that they continue their plum picking. I told Elle about the wind picking up and that it would probably be a good idea to think about leaving before the water got too rough. I piqued her interest and she stood up to go over and take a look for herself. As soon as she stood up she could feel the wind and reached for her sweat shirt. Man, do I wish we had cell phone cameras back in those days! Bending over I could see the crotch lines for both pair of panties as well as the satin from when she'd peed. My penis was at full attention and I had to make sure the kids weren't looking.

Elle proceeded to climb up the face of the dune and headed for the water on the other side of the 'spit'. As she did I got another idea for a picture. I kept my eyes on the kids and Elle, wanting to get her attention before she climbed back down to the beach towel and our things. I know I could've gotten the camera ready while she was gone but decided to 'keep the peace' by asking if I could have another rather than make her mad with a candid. I reasoned to myself that I'd gotten away with one candid so why take a chance. She was gone longer than I was when I went to check the wind and when she appeared at the top of the dune she had a bit of an impish smile on her face. Before I could ask her about it she offered up that she had to 'go' and “I was invited”. I couldn’t believe my ears and quickly made my way up to where she was. It was perfect for monitoring the kids and as soon as I was to the top she squatted down as she'd done earlier. My hand was in place just as she started to relieve herself and I couldn't believe how hot it was. I made a cursory attempt to get a finger inside the leg elastics but that served to make her stand up. Dumb me! We stood there for a minute looking down at the kids and commenting on how excited they were about their plum picking. Trying to catch her off-guard I decided to ask about another picture. She kept looking at the kids but after a few seconds I heard "Hurry up!" and ran down the face of the dune. She was standing at the edge looking out at the kids and as I started back up the dune decided I'd take one from down below her. I stopped my ascent and aimed the camera right at her. She never paid me any mind and just like that I had what I wanted.

As we made our way back to the beach towel I started became really concerned about the wind. Even if it hadn’t picked up I knew it was going to be a much harder trip back to the marina than it had been on the way over. I told Elle to call the girls and to suggest to them that if they wanted to swim now would be a good time. They’d filled almost three baskets with plums which Elle felt were more than enough. So, while the girls swam we packed up the gear and stowed it up under the deck of the boat to protect it from getting wet. When we called to the girls they were disappointed that it was time to go. My guess is that it was probably around 2pm or so. Even though it wasn't a perfect day I felt that everybody had enjoyed some fun and I knew Elle's mother would surely enjoy the fruits (pun intended) of the kids labor as we set sail.

To understand the travails of our trip home I would have to give you a sailing lesson... and I won't. Suffice it to say that it was 'interesting'. What had taken us less than and hour in the morning with fairly light wind took almost 2 1/2 hours going back with winds up to 15 miles per hour. The temperature had dropped plus the fact that waves were spraying us in the boat made for miserable conditions. Finally, back at the marina, I made the decision to leave everything on the boat and to head home to get Elle and the kids a warm shower and into dry clothes.

Even though I was fairly certain that the camera and pictures were safe in what I hoped was a waterproof container I wanted to get back to make sure. As I returned to the marina it started to rain. It didn't really matter as just about everything on the boat had become wet from the spray. I had a 'slicker' (water proof jacket) on but it didn't keep the water from running down my neck. It took almost a half hour to secure the boat and to load everything into the station wagon. Just as I was about to climb in to head home the 6 o'clock siren blew. I looked at all the wet gear stowed in the back and shook my head. My work wasn't over yet.

It wasn't until I had everything piled into the garage that I remembered the pictures. I'd put the camera and the first two into the plastic cooler to protect them. Making sure my hands were dry I opened it up and saw the tab sticking out for the last picture I'd taken with Elle on the dune. I heard Elle calling me for supper but I went ahead and pulled on it. It was better than I'd hoped for.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140i)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140i)

At his birthday party my father asked what my plans were for my week of vacation. I told him I wanted to get the South side of the house painted and to also get in some leisure sailing. I remember him frowning and then telling me that the weather probably wouldn’t co-operate. As I’ve mentioned a time or two before, my father was big into weather forecasting. He was usually pretty close to getting it right, especially when it came to predicting extended bad weather. So, I asked for specifics. He didn’t want to discourage me and put a ‘damper’ on the whole week so limited his prognostication to the next few days and saying that the best of them would be the next day, Labor Day. I specifically asked about rain and he made a ‘face’ that indicated to me that it was going to be a part of it.

Labor Day morning started out to be nice with a partly sunny sky. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the wind blowing from the East. I’d learned that was a sign of a few days of rain coming which served to confirm my father’s prediction. Elle and I had no real plan for the day but I knew I wanted to spend a good bit of time doing things with the kids since school was to start the next day. Then, all the school year activities would begin limiting my opportunities to do things with them. Even though we’d had a sort of sailing picnic on Saturday it had been short and not what either Elle or I had hoped for. Eating breakfast I made a suggestion that we all go on a real picnic and go by sailboat. Elle immediately jumped on the idea. She even suggested where we should go. I was a bit surprised at that but eagerly awaited the details.

At the birthday party she’d been talking with her mother who asked if we were going beach plum picking this year. The year before I’d borrowed a power boat for just Elle and I to go on a picnic. I came upon a fairly secluded sand spit up the bay to the West where beach plum bushes still grew. We ended up picking as many as we could taking them back for her mother to make jam. It was primarily accessible by boat and that was where Elle wanted to go. The older girls were all for it but Kaye still wasn’t into the whole boating thing. A quick phone call to Elle’s mother took care of that problem after she was told we were going beach plum picking. We’d gone through almost all the things we had to make sandwiches with the exception of peanut butter and jelly but the kids didn’t mind that at all. In fact, I remember Elle letting them make their own.

With some doubt about how much sunshine we’d have and for how long Elle insisted upon packing warm clothes “just in case”. It was warm enough for bathing suits and since the location where we’d anchor was perfect for swimming the decision was for bathing suits. I’d purchased a new suit earlier in the Summer for Elle but she had a problem with it. It was nylon and like a tennis dress with separate panties. The print was of brightly colored flowers that I was sure she’d love... and she did... but... the panties were white. She said she wouldn’t wear it out in public saying that people would think it was underwear. In trying to convince her to wear the suit I knew I had to be somewhat careful. What I wanted to use as an argument was that when she wore a tennis dress or skirt that was exactly what she was wearing. The suit panties were double layered and heavier than normal panties. It took a few days but I did finally get her to agree to wear the suit when it was just the two of us or just the kids and us.

When we were changing into our suits I decided to take a bold step hoping that I was still riding the crest of the goodwill I’d earned by committing to buy the Sunfish for her. I asked her to leave on her regular panties instead of the suit panties. I vividly remember her turning to give me one of her patented ‘looks’ and putting her hands on her hips as if to say “No way!” If I said anything I don’t remember what it was but as I stood there I watched her reach for the suit panties and then pull them up over her regular panties. I also remember taking a deep (but silent) breath.

Elle’s parents lived less that five minutes from the marina where “B’s” boat was docked. When we got there her mother had baskets for the beach plums ready for us. The previous year we’d brought them back wrapped in my shirt. We’d made good time in getting to the boat and, since the girls had been a part of putting the sails on back on Saturday, I let them do it while Elle I got all our gear on board. As we motored out towards the bay I saw the clock on the marina office wall reading 10am. It was perfect.

So was the wind. A steady breeze about 5 to 6 miles per hour out of the East. It would make for a smooth trip to our destination and give the girls ample time at the tiller. Arriving at the general location where the beach plums had been prolific the previous Summer, I tossed the anchor overboard. We were able to disembark without getting wet and in a short time had our base of operation set up. The sun was now mostly covered by low hanging clouds and the wind had picked up slightly. We were protected from it by a small sand dune and were in position to see anybody coming who might be walking the beach. To the best of my knowledge it was over a mile to the nearest road. When Elle and I’d been there the Summer before we’d not seen any ‘people garbage’ which made it especially nice.

I was surprised when the girls wanted to get started picking the plums right away. Elle gave them each a basket and pointed them in the direction of the largest bushes. As soon as they were occupied with their chore I turned to Elle and was going to ask that she remove the suit panties. I didn’t have to ask as she was already in the process. I just sat there taking in the view. But she didn’t stop moving after removing them as she crawled off the beach towel and onto the sand. She stood up and walked about ten feet away and then squatted down on her haunches. By then I knew what was coming. I grabbed for the camera but before I could open the bellows and get it set she was done. I pushed the plunger anyway hoping that it would turn out. As I've said, I hated to be rushed when using the Polaroid. Even though it would've been great to have an "action" shot I was still pleased I got the one I took.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140h)

WINDING DOWN...  Summer (Part 140h)

It was a last minute decision to take Kaye with us to the awards presentation at the sailing club. Time was against us. The first awards were to go to the junior sailing program and if we’d taken Kaye home for Barbara to babysit I wasn’t sure we’d get back in time. There were three levels in the program... midget, youngster and juniors. Midgets were kids from 7 through 9 years of age and even though Anne wouldn’t be 7 for another month she’d been allowed into the program. When we arrived Elle was asked to be a ‘presenter’. She didn’t want to but I pushed her up to the front. The first award was for the outstanding ‘midget’ and when Anne’s name was read off by the head sailing instructor all of us were clearly surprised. Actually, Anne wasn’t even in the room but was on the porch with some of her friends. There was no doubt in my mind that she was a ‘natural’ when it came to sailing and this award showed that others felt the same way. I was proud!

It took almost an hour to get through all the junior awards. There was a pause in the proceedings and, thankfully, a lot of the junior sailors and their parents left. I’d not paid much attention to the standings in the senior Sunfish class during the Summer and when they started handing out the trophies I certainly wasn’t prepared to hear my name being called. I’d ended up third. I truly thought they had made a mistake but I now had a little goblet that told me I had.

Elle had been ready to leave right after the junior awards had been distributed but I’d promised Rex I'd see him before we left. She clearly wasn't happy about that. I tried finding him right after that but he’d been caught up with the never ending problem at the sailing club... an overflowing septic system. Whenever there were a lot of people there it happened. I reminded Elle about it before I left to go racing and to be prepared for it. In a way I was surprised she’d chosen to wear slacks because of that. With a dress or skirt she had a bit of ‘insurance’ from embarrassment. But, she also knew from past experience that it would get cool as darkness set in. I’d not had a chance to pat her backside to check just what she was wearing for panties but I had an idea from a VP that it wasn't her 'dribble panties when she was climbing up the porch steps right after we arrived. I just wasn't sure if she was wearing two pair of regular nylon panties or not but didn’t know why she'd chosen them under the conditions I'd warned her about at the club.

After all the trophies for the Sunfish class had been handed out I made another attempt to find Rex. Elle had gathered the kids and was standing just inside the rear doors waiting for me. I had to climb under the clubhouse to find him and another man trying to disconnect the sewer pipe. It was not something I wanted any part of so called for him to come over by me. No sooner had he seen me and headed in my direction when I heard a loud stream of curses from the area he’d just left. It was obvious that the other man had been successful in disconnecting the pipe and had been bathed in the mess that it contained. Rex was upset with the situation but did come up to me to say he’d located a Sunfish for me. Earlier in the Summer I’d promised Elle I’d get another one that she could sail and race but I hadn’t planned on getting it until the Spring. He told me that it was more than the $800 I wanted to pay but it was a really good deal. The boat had been a late season replacement and had very little wear showing. But the ‘deal' was that I’d not only be getting new sails, spars, dagger board and rudder but I’d get to keep the ones that were already with it. The extra cost was $95. I knew the sails alone were worth $175 and the spars about $125 so it was a good deal. Now all I had to do was come up with the money.

I couldn’t wait to tell Elle but when I got back up on the porch she and the kids were gone. I asked one of her friends if she’d seen her and she shook her head as if to say “No”. There was only one place to look and that was at the car. The kids were inside but she was standing next to the passenger door. It was dark by then so I couldn’t really see anything, plus I was excited to tell her that she’d soon have her own Sunfish. I started to tell her when she pointed to her crotch area. It took a few seconds for it to register with me that she’d wet herself. She didn’t say anything and I didn’t know what to say. I was excited on two fronts... about the boat and, about her being wet.

I pulled out a towel from under my seat and she got in. I wanted to know what had happened but also wanted to tell her about the Sunfish. Reason caught hold of me so I told her about the boat. Being that it was dark I really couldn’t read her face but the bodily reaction told me that she was excited. She immediately turned towards me and planted a big kiss on my cheek and actually started bouncing up and down. The kids wanted to know what was going on so she told them and the older two were equally excited. For them it meant that they no longer had to share a boat at sailing lessons.

Back at home, because it was so late, Elle asked if I’d heard the kids upstairs and into bed. To help ‘make it happen’ she gave them permission to do so without brushing their teeth. I knew what she was doing and that was to not have them see she was wet. Recently it had been happening where they could see it way too often and it bothered her. While I was saying my “good nights” to the girls I was also praying that Elle would let me have some ‘wet fun’ when I got back down stairs. When I got there I saw that she’d removed her slacks and was wearing only a blouse and panties. That told me I had a chance for a picture. In fact, when she saw me walk into the kitchen she asked where the camera was. Man... did she know me or what! She was so happy about the boat I knew it was going to be a very good night!

She wanted us to wait downstairs until the kids were asleep before going up to our bedroom. We waited for a while and when we headed up the stairs I was wanting to take a picture of her wet rear but she wouldn't stop for me. Once inside our room she turned and said I'd get just one and it had to be a rear end shot. As I got her to the position I wanted I remember thinking that it was a pretty expensive picture.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140g)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140g)

Elle had decided on spaghetti for supper as it was easy to prepare and to clean up. I was in no rush to get to the party as I was sure it would be boring. Being a Saturday night the kids were allowed to stay up until 9pm. Barbara and Mo had gone home to change their clothes before eating and I’d anticipated Barbara wearing something that might lend itself to a peek. But, it wasn’t Barbara who got my attention. Mo had on a pair of white shorts and the blue panties she had on under them was quite the attention getter (at least for me). I couldn’t discern just what the material was but it was quite translucent. With that, I have to admit that I paid very little attention to Barbara.

Ironically, I was a bit familiar with the property where the party was being held. When I was thirteen and really getting into sailing it was owned by a big supporter of the sailing club. Rumor had it that he put up a significant amount of money to get the clubhouse built. In any case, the host and hostess were only renting it for the Summer. The house was located on a bit of a bluff that offered an unrestricted view of the water. There was a deck with a stairway to the beach below. I immediately remembered that the owner’s daughter (quite a few years older than me) had a less than sterling reputation. I was definitely a naive young man at the time and didn’t fully grasp some of the things that the older guys at the club were saying about her. They told of some sort of storage room under a deck where they supposedly ‘had their way’ with her. However I didn't know what that meant. The one thing they talked about that held my interest was that they would watch her change into her bathing suit and how big her breasts were. It was fun looking at the place and reminiscing about those days.

The party was just as I expected it to be... boring. Elle and I were the only ‘locals’ attending. I found the women to be mostly self absorbed and too busy talking about their kids to bother with. As I remember it there was only one who was modestly attractive. I hoped that there might be at least on opportunity for a panty peek but it never materialized. I tried to initiate some conversation about sailing but other than a few cursory comments about how much their kids enjoyed their time at the sailing club... nothing. When it started to get dark Elle and I just slipped away from the gathering and headed home.

The lights were on in the older girls bedrooms when we drove up the hill to the garage. It was just about 9pm and we’d been gone for just a little over an hour. Elle had worn a fairly modest dress, just a little above the knees. She’d worn just a single pair of the ‘dribble panties’ and in the back of my mind I envisioned/hoped that she would ‘come through’ for me once more. I knew she hadn’t used a toilet since we’d left home and as we walked up to the house my mind was working out a scenario that would lead to a great end to what had been a very good day. I was just about to make a suggestion to her when Barbara appeared in the doorway. Elle asked if everything was OK with our girls and she nodded affirmatively but the look on her face told a different story.

She went on to say that she, her sister and our kids had continued on with some sort of ‘cheering’ after we left. They tried to do a pyramid using only two people on the bottom and two on top. Our girls thought it had been great fun when, in the one they did earlier with six involved, it had all tumbled down... and they did it again. But there had been a problem in that Mo, her sister, had somehow gotten hit in the nose. I asked where she was and Barbara pointed through the window to the den couch. There was Mo, lying on her back, with some sort of cloth draped around her nose. In spite of much protestation, I ended up driving her to the hospital where it was confirmed that her nose was broken. It was definitely not the ending to the day that I’d been contemplating.

The one positive was that I had a chance to get to know Mo a little better. As I’ve written previously, she and Barbara were completely different except for their short stature. Barbara, who was ‘alive’ and bubbly contrasted with Mo, who was quiet and reserved. Barbara was constant motion while Mo took her time both in actions and in talking. My interest was in trying to find out how both of them had ‘escaped’ being mirror images of their mother. I sort of felt my way in asking. I didn’t get a specific answer but did get a smile and a quip... ”That’s my mom!“. When we were getting out of the car she added that she hoped that we (Elle and I) would have patience with her mother because she really was a good person.

As expected, Sunday was a ‘bear’... church, racing, the birthday party and the awards affair at the sailing club. Elle and I were in agreement that we’d wait a week before getting the kids back into the church scene. But Elle felt it would be best if she skipped taking the kids to the sailing club while I raced and, instead, took them to visit with my parents to let them play on their beach. It solved another problem in that she and the girls, being right across the street, could be ready for the party without a lot of hassling. Then, all I’d have to do after the races was go home, shower, dress and show up at her mother’s house. It sounded simple...

For some reason I hadn’t been noting my results for the sailing races but I do remember one of them that last Sunday... I won. It was the first time in the Sunfish. For some reason it had taken me an extended period to get the ‘feel’ of the boat. As the end of the season drew near I’d become more competitive and comfortable in sailing it. I remember thinking that it had never been that much ‘work’ back when I was racing my Comet class sailboat.

When the races were over quite a few of the skippers loaded up their boats to take home and I got roped into helping. A Sunfish can be handled by two people but three made it easier. I elected to leave our boat on the rack figuring we still had a few weeks of warm, not hot, weather ahead and could take advantage of it. I knew Anne would want to sail so that was reason enough. Rex, the facilities manager, asked if I’d be back that evening as he had something he wanted to talk to me about. I told him I would and then drove home.

The party for both Elle’s and my fathers had always been a family only affair and with guests that were, for all intents and purposes, strangers, made it awkward. Everybody knew that Elle, I and the kids would be leaving early and even writing about it today, I remember it feeling like we'd escaped when we exited the house.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140f)

WINDING DOWN...  Summer (Part 140f)

It was time to head back to the marina before we knew it. The pier where ”B“ tied his sailboat up was located in the most remote area of the facility. For that, Elle was thankful. Not ready to expose her wetness to the kids she suggested that I give them some money and send them down to the office for ice cream. That way she could readily help me take the sails off, pack up the gear and not have the kids see that she was wet. Of course I wanted a picture but that idea was immediately rejected. I wasn’t about to give up on the idea but let it rest for the moment.

By the time the kids were back we had everything loaded into the station wagon and Elle was already behind the wheel and ready to leave. We arrived home a little before 3pm, in time for Barbara and her sister to be picked up. Elle hadn’t asked what they were going to be doing but it seemed a little odd to me since I knew they didn’t have jobs. Since they were going to be eating with us and then watching the kids that night I was puzzled. Once both our cars were in the driveway Elle suggested that Jean and Anne go fetch their sister. Once I heard that I knew I had a window of time to try for the picture I so much wanted. Since we planned on using the boat again on Labor Day I decided to leave all the gear in the station wagon so all we had to bring to the house was the cooler and thermos... and the camera.

We dumped the things on the steps and as we did I managed to get the camera ready. I was hoping to do it so Elle didn’t see me but she did. I got one of those familiar ‘looks’ of disapproval but it was followed by one word... ”Hurry!“. I hated it when she did that because it made me rush and I'd sometimes waste a good picture. The cats were waiting for us when we arrived and Elle, almost as if she planned it for me, bent over to pet them. I got what I wanted!

Elle went in the house and was in the process of changing by the time the girls returned. I didn’t expect to see Barbara but she came over to explain why Kaye’s shirt was dirty. While she was there I asked where she and her sister were going primarily to confirm if they would be back in time for supper. She laughed and said they’d probably be back within the hour as all they were doing was going into town to her mother's day care school. Her mother had wanted to leave as early as possible the day before and had left it to be picked up by the girls. I immediately wondered why it hadn’t been done the previous week but didn’t say anything. The mother of one of the kids at the center had offered to come pick them them and also to help. Now it was my turn to laugh as I told her that the church was the one we attended. With all the hassle the church and I had with her mother I just took it for granted that she had told her about it... but it was obvious by the look on her face that she hadn’t.

Barbara was right in that it didn’t take that long as it was about 4pm when she and her sister came through the opening in the hedge. I did a double take though as they both were wearing red and white cheerleader uniforms. Upon seeing them my girls were doing their own cheering, excited as could be. I quickly remembered the other evening when they told of their intention to find them and then to show them off to our kids. The first words out of Barbara’s mouth was to ask Jean where her mother was. Elle, in the kitchen preparing for supper, obviously heard all the noise and had come out to see what was going on. Barbara approached her to plead that she go find her cheerleader outfit outfit and to join them in putting on a show. Elle exhibited a bit of a frown but I could see a smile forming at the corners of her mouth as she headed back inside.

It took a while before Elle re-appeared in her cheering outfit. Seeing her in it reminded me that when she’d last worn it to the costume party she couldn’t find the 'bloomers' that went with it. We ended up taking a pair of her ribbed cotton Carter’s panties and dyed them dark blue to match the color of the outfit. I wondered if that was what she had on. Our three kids were dancing all around pleading for them to let them do cheers. But Barbara told them to wait that she was going to put on a "show' for them. I went over to the patio and brought a picnic bench for to sit on making it more like a real show. They desperately wanted to participate but Barbara had their attention and promised that after she, her sister and Elle did their ‘show’ that they cold do one too.

Barbara, Mo and Elle got together to decide on just what they were going to do. I was watching but couldn’t hear what they were saying. I did notice Barbara lift the hem of her skirt up and point to it. I could see white and it wasn’t from the skirt. Her uniform was a cap sleeved white blouse tucked into a short red and white pleated skirt. Believe me, she didn’t have to lift the hem very far for me to get my peek. After that it was decided that the cheers would be kept simple. I had an idea as to why. The ‘show' lasted for a less than five minutes but to end it Mo did a cartwheel and finished with a flip. My girls loved that and were yelling for her to do more but she declined. The one thing I garnered from the cartwheel was that the ‘bloomers’ were the same color red as in the skirt. It took so little time for her to do the maneuver that there wasn’t very much to see. However, knowing that Barbara didn’t have ‘bloomers’ on was a bit titilating, to say the least.

They gathered the kids up and went through some simple cheers that they could do mostly with their hands and arms. Barbara was trying to get them to co-ordinate that with some leg kicks but it just wasn’t registering with them. Just a bit frustrated, she backed off from them and demonstrated, obviously forgetting that her ‘bloomers’ were missing. Even if it was for only a few leg kicks I didn’t miss that ‘show’!

It was Mo who suggested that to finish up that they make a pyramid. She explained that she, Barbara and Elle would be on the ground on their hands and knees and that Jean and Anne would have to climb up on their backs. Then I was to place Kaye on the very top like a cherry on a sundae. They thought it was great idea... but Elle wasn’t so sure. When I picked Kaye up I was standing behind the others who were already in place. I almost dropped her when I saw Barbara’s pantied backside staring right at me. The skirt was short to begin with but it had been dragged up on her back when Anne climbed aboard. I know I hesitated for a few seconds before moving Kaye on top of Jean and Anne. Once I did all I could think about was taking a picture... but the camera was in on the kitchen counter. I started to go get it when I heard a burst of laughter, turned and saw them all piled together. Actually, as I looked back at them I was mad. If I hadn’t moved from where I was I would’ve been in position to have seen a wide open crotch view of Barbara as she lay in the position where she ended up. All I got were the ‘dregs’ for a view as she got to her feet. They were all laughing, even Elle but I wasn’t as I’d missed out on possibly a once in a lifetime view.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140e)

WINDING DOWN... Summer... (part 140e)

That was an excuse I never would have guessed. I’m not sure I knew anybody who didn’t know how to swim. You learned to walk, talk and then swim. Both Jean and Anne knew how to swim before they were five years old and Kaye, at a little over three, already knew how to dog paddle in the water. I don’t know what my facial expression was as I digested the information but I recovered to say that it might be something she pursued with so many beaches and so much water all around the area. My girls were really pestering Barbara until I finally ordered them to stop. At that point Barbara, in an effort to more fully explain herself, said she was concerned that with her being fearful it would be a distraction and spoil the trip for everybody else. I told her that not only were the girls disappointed but that I was too. I explained that I got a lot of satisfaction introducing people to the sailing experience.

We’d already started back towards the house by then. Barbara was still trying to placate the kids and it was then that I remembered that I’d never really given the wash line a close look. Again noticing that their car was gone I asked Barbara where her parents were. She explained that they’d gone back to where they used to live to see some relatives who were visiting from Germany. I asked why she hadn’t gone with them and she laughed and said that both she and her sister pleaded to not have to go. Four hours with seven people in a car was not fun. She explained that they had agreed to do all the chores if they could stay. We were almost to the house when Mo, the sister, appeared on the little back porch. I can’t really fully describe what she was wearing but it was far from flattering. It was a combination of a dress and a robe, way too large and very faded. I remember my mother having something like it and calling it a ‘duster’. Ironically, she had  a dust rag in her hand and was about to beat it against the handrail.

Barbara briefly explained to her why the kids and I were there. I saw Mo smile and I pretty much figured it was something between the two of them. Time was flying by and it was approaching 10am. I’d hoped to be out on the water by then. Walking into the house I told Elle I had some bad news and that Barbara wouldn’t be joining us. I explained it by saying that she and her sister had agreed do all the household chores to avoid a couple of long car rides for a family visit. Elle was just finishing repacking the additional sandwiches she’d made into the cooler. She looked up and, with a wry smile on her face, said she also had bad news... her mother couldn’t take the kids that night as close friends had decided to come and visit for Elle’s father’s birthday. To me, that was good news. It meant we wouldn’t be going to the party Elle had coerced me into going to... that is, until Elle processed what I’d told about the girls next door.

Without saying a word she was out the door. I saw her jogging towards the opening in the hedge and then it came to me... she was going to ask the girls to babysit for us that night. My reprieve from having to attend the party that night was short lived. When she returned she told the kids she had a real surprise for them and told them that both Mo and Barbara would be eating supper with us that night and then would stay to play with them afterwards. The cheer that went up was almost deafening. However, when Kaye, the youngest heard the news she thought it was going to happen right away. It wasn’t until we were loading the station wagon to head for the marina that she realized that it wasn’t. At three years old it was hard (impossible) to reason with her and a tantrum ensued. Elle didn’t like to give in to such emotional outbursts but, rather than to sacrifice the whole day and have it ruined for everybody, agreed to take her next door to see Barbara hoping that she could persuade her to behave.

I, and the older girls, waited by the station wagon, anxious to get going. Finally, Elle appeared in the hedge opening and motioned for us to go on and get in. As we drove off she told me that Barbara (and her sister) had volunteered to keep Kaye occupied for a few hours while we got in a bit of a sail. I asked what time we had to be back and when Elle said 3pm I wasn’t happy but agreed with her that a little was better than none. When I’d gotten out of bed I had a brief thought of going to the marina and getting the boat prepped to go but that was it... just a thought. It was after 11am and there was a lot of work to do before we could leave the dock. At least it was a nice day and what appeared to be a fair breeze.

Elle and I’d used the boat in the past and knew that it was not conducive to swim off of it. ”B“ didn’t have a ladder and once in the water you pretty much had to stay there so she elected to just wear clothes and not a bathing suit. The girls had worn their suits under their clothes so if they chose to go in the water they were prepared. I knew I could lift them back into the boat so that wasn’t a concern. But, Elle had been ready to leave back around 10am. With all the machinations that had taken place Elle hadn’t used a toilet in quite a while. We had cast off from the dock when she remembered. When she told me I just rolled my eyes at her. She then shrugged her shoulders as if to say don’t go back. I didn’t smile but I was on the ‘inside’. The girls were well aware of Elle’s ‘accidents’ and, if it was just family, pretty much ignored the situation if something happened. In my perverse world I hoped it would.

As soon as the sails were raised the noon siren went off in town. Anne had grabbed for the tiller to steer the boat and it was a bit of a shock to her because the Lightning class sailboat was much larger than the Sunfish she was used to. I let her struggle for a bit and then explained why it felt so much different. I won’t give a sailing lesson here but, for the most part she understood. I was impressed as she wasn’t quite seven years old. Her sister, Jean, took her turn and quickly relinquished it. As long as I was in a teaching mode I had Elle take a turn. She’d sailed with me as crew when I had my Comet class boat so had a better idea of what to expect. The older girls were now clamoring to eat. I was near the cooler so opened it and doled out the food. Elle continued to sail the boat in a very competent manner. I wasn’t expecting to have to persuade her to give up being the skipper but I did. She waited until the girls were fully occupied before getting up and when she did I knew why. She’d peed herself... everything... and didn’t want to girls to see her doing it. By sitting in the same place with her legs together allowed her to ‘go’ without the girls noticing. When I took over she just slid sideways and I stepped over her and for a short while was able to keep her secret. I have to admit I was ‘hard’ and was also worried the kids would notice... but they didn’t.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (part 140d)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140d)

I stopped at ”B’s“ house on the way home to pick up the needed things to use his boat. He still lived with his parents so I knew I’d have to make conversation with them before getting away. By the time I loaded all the gear and pulled out of the driveway it was around 7:30pm. Elle knew I was working until 6pm which usually got me home by 6:45pm. She’d be done feeding both the kids and herself and would then warm up my dinner after I arrived. As I’ve written numerous times before she wanted me to call if I was going to be really late and I didn’t. (No cell phones in those days!) Pulling in the driveway I came to the conclusion that this wasn’t a good way to start off my vacation.

With Labor Day on Monday (and the end of Summer as we knew it), that Friday was the last day of activity for the junior sailing program. Traditionally, the sailing instructors didn’t do any teaching but made it one big day of fun. Parents of the kids, all women, would help organize games and feed them. Elle, because she’d spent almost every day our kids had lessons at the club, even though only required to be there once about every two weeks, had become ‘part of the woodwork’ and was considered to be like one of the instructors. That meant that she was involved all that day... and by the time she got home was worn out. I paid the price for it.

She was out on the screened porch when I found her. I said ”Hi“ and was pretty much ignored. I knew I’d find my supper in the oven waiting to be warmed up and, after so doing, found my pork chops were dried out and basically unable to be cut. The veggies were also dried out but still edible. Thankfully, there were some ‘goodies’ from the club party to nibble on. Having experienced this type of behavior from Elle before I knew to keep my distance and mouth shut. I waited until the kids were in bed and then, casually, told her that ”Big B“ was off to Nantucket and we had the use of his boat immediately.  That news piqued her interest and she backed off from the silent treatment a bit and wanted to know more.

We’d planned to take the kids on a sailing excursion, complete with a picnic, on Labor Day. However, that was contingent on the weather co-operating. With Elle’s softened approach I threw out the suggestion that with the perfect weather expected the next day that we could accelerate our plans. I really wasn’t expecting a wholehearted acceptance figuring there would be some ‘give and take’. However, she got right up and started getting things ready in the kitchen. By the time we headed off for bed everything was ready except for making up the sandwiches. Salads had been prepared as well as a jug of homemade lemonade that I made up. I always put more sugar in than she did but she didn’t say a word. I was just thankful that the situation had improved so much since my arrival home.

It wasn’t all ‘peaches and cream’ though. Undressing, she started telling me about the play day at the sailing club and how some of the other mothers had put together the idea of an informal gathering at one of their homes on Saturday night. Most of the them were Summer only people and this would be the only time to be together, in a social way, until the following year. I listened without saying a word but my thoughts were definitely negative towards the idea. If I’d met any of the people it had only been for a brief few minutes. It was my (silent) position that I didn’t need to spend time with people I’d never really get to know or spend time with. However, I pretty much knew if I spoke out against it that Elle’s mood would quickly change. End result... I said OK but put a time limit on our stay as Sunday would be an incredibly busy day.

Besides church, it was the last day of sailboat racing and it would decide who would garner the trophies. Then, immediately after that, it was the dual birthday celebration party for both Elle’s and my father, something we’d done every year since I quit racing the horses. This year it was being hosted by Elle’s mother which meant we, thankfully, weren’t involved in the preparation. All we had to do was show up and spend a couple of hours with them. From there it was back to the sailing club for the season ending meeting where the awards and trophies were handed out. It was going to be a long day!

In the morning when Elle told the girls about our plans they were really excited, especially Anne who announce that she was going to be the skipper. I was proud of her enthusiasm but tempered it a bit by saying that everybody would get a turn. While Elle was getting breakfast Anne asked if we could invite Barbara to come along. I remember thinking ‘where did that come from?’. I looked over at Elle and she responded by explaining that when Barbara was first getting to know the girls she’d asked about their favorite thing to do. When Both Jean and Anne responded ”Sailing“, Barbara told them that she’d never been sailing and asked if they’d take her someday. Obviously, Anne remembered.

Elle and I had a brief discussion on the possibility of doing it and I told her the boat was certainly big enough to bring her along. She then added she could re-do the food to make it happen. Anne wanted to be the one to run next door to ask Barbara but I jumped in and said that I’d go with her and suggested that they all go with me. I wanted to be sure that Barbara knew that the offer was from our whole family.

We could see the back door was open through the screen door but after calling inside and with no response I turned and looked around. The car that the mother, Phyllis, usually drove wasn’t in the driveway so I looked out towards the back yard and the farm. I saw their new clothes line was in use and then saw some legs moving under a sheet that had been hung. I pointed the girls in that direction and watched as they ran off. Halfway to the garage I could see what appeared to be mostly underwear, male and female both adult and kids, hanging on the line and that brought a smile to my face. There was the one sheet and whoever was hanging wash was behind it. The girls were yelling as they approached and suddenly Barbara ducked out from behind the sheet. Anne ran up to her and told her we were going sailing and they wanted her to go with us. By then Barbara saw me and looked my way for some sort of confirmation.

As an adult I could see Barbara’s hesitation in responding positively. I had to temper the girl’s excitement to explain just what had been offered. She was wearing what Elle called a playsuit... shorts with an attached bib with shoulder straps. Under it she was wearing a sleeveless top. She had a sort of embarrassed smile when she said she appreciated the offer but was going to decline. The girls, in unison, asked why. Looking straight at me she admitted that she didn’t know how to swim and was frightened to go out on a boat.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140c)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140c)

Joanie had left a folder of work that she hadn’t completed and came down to go over it with Trish. I happened to be looking over towards Trish as Joanie approached. Trish was completely unaware of Joanie’s make-over. I think her lower jaw hit her chest she was so surprised. With shorter hair and dressed in current styled clothes, Joanie was a completely different person (on the outside). They chatted for a while before getting down to ‘business’. As soon as Joanie left Trish went over to Laura (her cousin). I knew what that conversation was about. I fully expected that she would say something to me but as of lunch time, not a word.

On my way to lunch I passed Joanie and Laura on their way back to the bank. I could see they had a somewhat guilty look after I hailed them. It didn’t matter. I was just glad that Joanie had become friends with Laura. They were similar in age and their backgrounds were mirrored in that they’d not had a chance to be normal teenagers having had to assume adult like responsibilities at an early age.

With lobby traffic at low ebb and my vacation looming it was hard not to think about it and all that I hoped to do. I guess it could be called day dreaming. The main item of concern outside the bank was the open school board meeting scheduled for the next day. The main question on my mind was where the money was coming from to pay for the brand new position of elementary school principal and also the two new physical education teachers. At a party, my friend Bob who was on the Board, had let slip that money might be a problem “down the road”. I wanted to know just when that might be. As much as I disliked Pat (the PTA lady) I ended up calling her and pleaded with her to make that one of the ten questions the public was going to be allowed to ask. Always the ‘boss’, she wouldn’t commit but did agree that it was an important consideration.

Elle made arrangements for Barbara, from next door, to come over and watch the kids. It was too much of a hassle to take them to her mother’s and then have to pick up the two older girls and get them ready for sailing lesson the next morning. Barbara had promised to show the two older girls some school cheers from her old school so they were excited about that. Kaye was excited just to be around Barbara. Since the school board had mandated that the session be over at 9pm the cost would be minimal.

Long story short... the meeting was contentious. Some of the parents would have none of the rules as set forth by the Board. Pat would ask a question and Wally, the president, would start to answer but would soon be interrupted by people in the audience. As I remember it, maybe two question got reasonably answered. Pat did get to ask my question but she phrased it a bit differently which sort of ‘muddied’ it up a bit. Once the subject of money came up all sense of order disappeared. It was almost 8:30pm when Wally stood up and said the meeting was over and proceeded to walk off the stage with the rest of the Board members following. A couple of the ‘ya-hoos’ who kept interrupting tried to storm the stage and prevent them from leaving. Fortunately, two men in the audience were off duty policemen and they quickly put an end to that.

The only thing accomplished was that the classroom assignments had been posted in the lobby so parents could see who their kids teachers would be. Elle, for one, wasn’t happy. Jean was assigned a new teacher with absolutely no classroom experience. The teacher she’d requested had been moved to a different grade. If I were to have made a guess as to how many people left the building upset it would have been 95%. We finally left the parking lot around 9:30pm having spent almost an hour talking with people we knew and all of us were frustrated. The one ironic thing about the mess was that the parents had wanted change and that’s why we voted Wally on to the Board. Now they wanted his head.

Barbara was interested to hear what had taken place. After all, it was her father who was the principal of the school. I tried to couch my answers (trying to be politically correct way before the term had been coined) so as to not alarm her. What her father would tell her was up to him. As we talked I continued to be impressed with how mature and ‘grounded’ she was. To change the subject to a more lighter vein I asked how the ‘cheering’ had gone. That made her eyes light up. Basically, she said they’d had fun and she’d even gotten Kaye involved a bit. She told us that the girls had mentioned that Elle had been a cheerleader and still had her outfit. Elle kind of sloughed it off but I took the ‘bait’ and ran with it. I told her that Elle had worn it to a Halloween costume party the past Fall. I remember Barbara’s eyes lighting up and watching her move forward on her seat. She told us that she’d promised to get out her outfit from her last school and wear it to show the girls. She also said she’d get her sister to do the same and now, hearing that Elle still had hers, pleaded with her to dig it out and wear it. She was truly excited about the prospect as she headed home. Elle wasn’t mad at me for bringing out the fact that she still could wear her cheering uniform but let me know that she would’ve preferred that I’d kept my mouth shut. I just smiled.

I couldn’t wait for 6pm Friday night. The week at work had dragged and Friday was the worst. I tried to ‘con’ Bret into taking my late Friday night duty but he had to baby sit his kids and actually left early. Trish, as she was leaving, came up to me and finally mentioned the new look that Joanie was sporting. I didn’t know weather to take it as a compliment or if she was ‘riding’ me when she called me a “ladies bank”. I knew what she was referring to what with the money I’d loaned Laura and now Joanie. I decided to keep my mouth shut and just smiled. I’d already anticipated that she’d find out but also felt confident that she’d keep it quiet. Lena, the president’s secretary, had been my ‘partner’ in outfitting Joanie and I knew, for sure, she wouldn’t say anything. So, I just let it go.

She hadn’t made it out of view when I had something very large blocking it. It was ‘Big B’... a complete surprise. He was on his way home from a week long sales trip upstate but wanted to make sure he caught up with me so he stopped. I’d made arrangements with him to use his Lightning class sailboat on my week off. Normally he only used it on Saturdays and Sundays because he was ‘on the road“ during the week. I’d told him I’d pick up the sails and other gear at his house on Sunday night but his plans had changed. He’d been invited to go on a scuba diving trip to explore some of the sunken ships off Nantucket and was leaving first thing in the morning. He wanted to make sure I got the stuff before he left. As he walked out the door I just shook my head in amazement. Here he was well over 300 pounds and it seemed like there wasn’t anything he wouldn't try.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140b)

WINDING DOWN...Summer (Part 140b)

Bad weather on weekends in the Summer is so frustrating. You work all week to be able to have fun on the weekend and then are denied. By supper time Elle had about had it with the kids. She’d exhausted her patience trying to keep them occupied and from fighting with each other. While clearing the dishes from the table she looked at me and asked if I thought Barbara or her sister might be available to babysit. I know I gave her one of those looks that answered “how would I know?” without saying a word. I asked what she had in mind and she quickly answered “The movies.” She didn’t have the name of any picture in mind but it was obvious that she wanted out of the house.

Elle’s mother had made it known that for her to babysit the kids overnight she had to have at least a half day notice. It was close to 6pm by then. I knew we had the number for next door because the phone hadn’t been changed after Sabrina... oops Lisa... had left so told Elle to give it a try. She was back in only a minute with a big smile on her face. Both girls were available because they were so new to the community that no one knew about them. I asked who would be coming over and Elle just shrugged her shoulders. When we told the girls, Kaye, the youngest shouted out she wanted Barbara. If for no other reason than to keep the peace when whoever was coming over arrived, I hoped that it was Barbara.

It was. Kaye was bouncing up and down like a yo-yo. I checked the look on the other girls faces and they seemed happy as well. We didn’t have much time to chat so Elle gave Barbara a quick tour of the house and we headed out. The movie was right in town so it didn’t take long to get there but it had already started. I hated that. The movie turned out to be Bonnie and Clyde and Elle wasn’t too happy about that. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Elle was pacified by the fact that Warren Beatty was in it so all in all it was a pleasant night out.

Elle, in the rush to get to the movie on time, didn’t change her clothes which meant she didn’t add any panties other than her ‘dribble panties’ she'd been wearing. She was pretty comfortable with a two hour window between toilet visits so it shouldn’t have been a problem for her with the movie being roughly 2 hours long. However, she didn’t use the toilet before we left the house which, on our way home, turned out to be a bit of a problem. Actually, the problem arose as she exited the car. Being vertical put a lot of pressure on her bladder and she made it about halfway to the door before she spurted. Because it had been a cool and damp day she’d chosen to wear slacks. With shorts there isn’t as much material to get wet but slacks cover the legs. If Barbara hadn’t been inside it really wouldn’t have been a problem at all and I would have had some fun. But... she was. We got to the picnic bench and she sat down telling me to go in and get Barbara, pay her and take her home. I knew what she was trying to do and that was to hide her wetness. However, I didn’t know what she would say to Barbara to explain why she was sitting on a picnic bench on the patio when it was raining outside.

Elle had instructed the girls to get ready for bed at 8:30pm in anticipation of school starting in a week so Barbara was alone in the den watching TV when we arrived home. I walked in with my wallet in my hand and she jumped up as soon as she saw me. Before I could say a word she said the girls had been great and that she had a new best friend... Kaye. I loved this girl! I paid her and told her I’d walk her through the hedge and to her door but she said she’d be OK. Once outside she saw Elle, said “Hi!” and bounded off into the darkness. Elle was saved... at least from Barbara. She still had to contend with me. With her pants already wet I felt I wouldn’t face any resistance for encouraging her to go all the way. But that’s not the way it worked with Elle. There had to be something in return.

For the entire Summer Elle had taken the older two girls to their sailing lessons and, although not required to stay but on a few assigned days, had chosen to remain daily and help out with the program. It ran three days a week from 9am to noon. She’d met a number of ‘Summer’ people with children taking lessons and had become friendly with a few. One had a business that amounted to selling out of a catalog and Elle had seen a canister set that she really liked. That became the bargaining chip.

While this was being explained my mind was thinking that if this was going to cost me money then I wanted at least one picture. (SEE BELOW) One was all she’d agree to so I changed my focus and proceeded to strip off the wet slacks and got ‘serious’. She wasn’t really in the mood but allowed me to have my fun. We eventually ended up in bed and we reprised one of our old routines where she’d straddle me, give me some lubrication through her panties and then lay down on top of me. The warm wetness of the panties encircling my penis was a major turn on for me. Knowing I wasn’t going to get much more I’d eventually relax and let it all go in that position. It was better than nothing!

The weather was the same for Sunday. For me, it was church, first thing. I got there early and finished cleaning up what Phyllis and her tribe of pre-schoolers had left behind. I’d not been made aware that a high ranking official from the diocese was coming to the later service and was asked to return to meet him. Not that I had anything else of import on my schedule but I wasn’t happy (or impressed by him). Then it was home for a bite to eat before heading for the sailing club. Rain for sailing events was not a deterrent. The temperature hovered around 70 but when you’re wet, that’s cold. I don’t have any notes as to how I did but, as the season progressed I became more competitive. The one thing I do remember from that afternoon was that I couldn’t wait to get home and to take a warm shower.

I was looking forward to going to work the next morning. Although Joanie would be gone from view, Trish and Hobie would be back and that would take some of the responsibility off me. It was obvious to both Bret and I that the time off had done a world of good for Trish. She was far more relaxed and friendlier than when she left. In Hobie’s case I could tell he was glad to be back. He offered up that one week off would’ve been enough. I took that to heart thinking of my upcoming week. I got him up to speed on the situation with the branch office and the special meeting that had accomplished nothing. He didn’t comment but his facial expression told the story.

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140a)

WINDING DOWN... Summer (Part 140a)

Rain and wind was what I woke to that Saturday. On top of that the temperature was below 70 for the first time since June. It was a reminder that Summer would soon be over, at least from a practical standpoint. Our geographic area was a Summer destination with the population growing at least three fold. Three out of four homes were nothing more than cottages and of those almost a third were rentals. The ‘locals’ considered the Summer season to run from the middle of June (when schools let out) until Labor Day (with school starting right after). I was more than a bit upset because with rain I couldn’t mow the lawn. Sunday was a full day from dawn to dusk which meant I’d have to squeeze it in after work during the week.

After my weekly trip to the landfill with the garbage I decided to go check on things at the church. It was a good thing because the undercroft hadn’t been cleaned up by Phyllis, the obnoxious neighbor, and her day care center. I could’ve done what had to be done myself but seeing that she wasn’t keeping her part of the bargain made me mad and I decided to go to her house and confront her. While at the church I checked on supplies and found we were low on some. The church had a benefactor at the hardware store in the wife of one of the owners. We were allowed to charge things up to $20 a month and she would cover it. Stopping there would also give me a chance to catch up with Sandy and to find out if her husband, Johnnie, had heard anything about his coaching position for the upcoming year.

Seeing Sandy in slacks was another reminder that cooler weather would soon be upon us. I hadn’t seen much of her all Summer because she was working full time. She looked good and I tried checking her out for a VPL as I collected the things I needed for the church. Checking out I asked about Johnnie and his status and I got a sour look on her face as my answer. She said he was “out” and it would be announced at the open school board meeting now scheduled for Tuesday night. I was surprised that Elle hadn’t said anything about it. I asked if she and Johnnie were going to attend and she gave me a thumbs down saying that all the new teachers were supposed to be introduced.  By then I’d given up on my quest for a VPL but as I was going out the door I ran into (literally) Pete (from the ‘unmarrieds’ group) so stopped to say “Hi”. While we were chatting I noticed Sandy, behind the counter, bending over to get a bag to put a customer’s purchase in it and got my wish. I was pretty sure she was wearing the ‘dribble panties’ that Elle and I’d made for her because the crotch, with the extra layers of cloth, bulged out a bit. I smiled when I saw it.

Pete had some very interesting news in that Martin and Sabrina (my former neighbor) were now engaged. However, she’d gone back to using her birth name, Lisa, at her father’s request. Back living with her parents, Pete said she was a different person. No date had been set but Pete thought it pretty funny that Martin was the “first to fall” of the 'unmarrieds'. I asked about Bebe and he smiled but didn't answer.

I drove right by my driveway and headed up the neighbor’s. Their car was there which was a good sign. Barbara answered my knock. It was now getting close to 10am and she appeared to still be in her nightgown which unnerved me for a second or two. She was such a sweet girl and totally opposite of her mother. Disregarding the nightgown, I had a very hard time reconciling that difference almost to the point of wondering if she hadn’t been adopted. She went and got her mother for me and before I could open my mouth Phyllis announced that Bill, her husband (and new principal), would be constructing a clothes line if it stopped raining, and hoped that would make me happy. That came out of the blue but it was sort of good news. Then, before I could express my complaint about the condition of the church, he appeared. It was the first time I’d actually seen him at the house since the day he started moving in. He was almost as brusque as his wife but he did take time to say hello and tell me his name, obviously having forgotten about our previous meeting. He offered up the excuse of being incredibly busy getting acclimated at the school and getting things ready for the first day. I just stood there and listened. With my focus now switched from the church matter to the clothes line I decided to push that project and offered to help him construct the T-poles. I was figuring that my involvement might insure getting the job done. He readily accepted. Since I had a station wagon I offered to drive to the lumber yard. I knew what we needed would fit better in it than in a car.

Back with the needed supplies, I found that I’d bitten off a little more than I bargained for. Bill didn’t have much in the way of tools so I went and got mine. It was still raining so we worked in the garage.. I said “we” but 90% of the effort came from my input. I had the “T’s” attached to the pole and was about to put the screw eyes on the cross bar when I asked when he wanted to put them up. He looked at me with a blank stare and I pointed to a shovel leaning against the wall. Without hesitating I said the holes needed to be at least three feet deep but they had to be the same. I was waiting for him to protest but he didn’t. He (possibly Phyllis) had come to the conclusion that the open space where the tree that had been hit by lightning earlier in the Summer had stood would be the best location. The ground was soft from the rain so it wasn’t really all that hard but in watching him it was obvious that physical labor was something quite foreign to him.

Barbara came running out to tell him he had phone call. The look on his face was one of pure relief. Barbara stayed for a few minutes asking me about what I was doing. She, somewhat surprisingly, was still wearing her nightgown but did have a sweater over her shoulders. When she asked her question of me she squatted down to take a close look. As I proceeded to explain she ‘duck walked’ a few inches closer and as she did I got an up close and personal view of her crotch. Granted they were only for split seconds but it did grab my attention.

Barbara didn’t stay long and when her father didn’t return I took the shovel and finished up the holes figuring that if I didn’t they might not get done. I dropped the two poles in and dumped the dirt back in around them. They turned out to be level enough for the naked eye that I didn’t bother to measure them. I probably would’ve if they’d been mine. By then I was pretty wet and decided I’d done enough and Bill could string the clothes line himself. After collecting my tools and heading down the driveway I realized I hadn’t done what I’d originally come to do and that was to ream Phyllis out about not picking up the undercroft of the church. I hesitated for a few seconds and then continued on back home.
