FALL... October (Part 75a)

Elle was in a ”tizzy“ about weather to have a birthday party, with guests, for Anne. At two years old she didn’t have any true friends. She played mostly with her sister, Jean, and her friend, Julie. Never knowing when she’d be called in to teach she figured it would be just her luck to get a call that day. She’d learned that once you made it to the top of the substitute list you just didn’t ever want to turn down a job or you’d go to the bottom of the list. Elle mentioned her concerns to Millie who told her that she and her daughters would step in and help if it came to that. So, that weekend we did the planning for it. One of the things Elle wanted was to have pictures. I went to get the camera and found it wasn’t there. I was puzzled and concerned. It was my grandfather’s good Polaroid camera. For the life of me I couldn’t remember the last time I’d used it. Elle didn’t even know how to use it so she wasn’t the culprit. If it was lost I knew my grandfather would be upset... very upset!

When Jay got in to work on Monday he was as happy as I could remember. He walked up to me and showed me a check. I asked what it was for and he said it was the money from the sale of his El Camino. As soon as he said it I knew where the missing camera was. I’d loaned it to him right before I left for the sailing championships so he could take pictures for a poster he wanted to use to advertise the sale. I’d had so much on my mind at that time I’d completely forgotten. When I asked him about it he apologized and said it was in his truck and he’d give it back at the end of the day. He also said he’d replace the film he’d used. At that point I was so relived to find out that I hadn’t lost the camera that I didn’t much care about the film.

When we left work that night we went right to Jay’s truck and he gave me the camera and a new pack of film. However, it wasn’t the same box I was used to. Instead of blue, white and gray it had colors on it. I looked at it and he said he thought I might like to try it. I knew that Polaroid had come out with color film but the cost was out of sight. I think it worked out to a dollar a picture. In any case, seeing the box I was anxious to try it out. Jay had to get going leaving me there reading the material on the new film. After reading it one thing I knew I’d like was that with the new film you no longer had to coat the picture with a gel stick. That was always such a pain.

I picked up the camera and noticed that there was a tab sticking out of one end. There was a little window on that end that showed how many pictures were left in the camera and it read 1. I was anxious to put the new color film in so just pulled the tab and put it on the seat. I opened the back of the camera, removed the old cartridge and slid the new one in. I couldn’t wait to get home to try it out.

As I stepped out of the car I had the camera all set to go. I walked in and found the girls seated at the table eating. As I remember it the flash scared them but when I pulled the tab and saw the result I couldn’t believe how clear the picture was but I didn’t want to waste any more what with the birthday party coming up. I’d left the camera case and all the junk from the film box in the car so went back out to get it all. Upon seeing the unopened picture lying on the seat I figured ”why not?“ and pulled it open. I truly couldn’t believe my eyes.

Even though it was black and white I knew it was a picture of Jo as soon as I saw it. What took my breath away was that she was in only her bra and panties. My heart was racing as I stood there staring at it. I knew that it had to have been taken over at the barrier beach as Jay had been back working over there on the weekends most of September. The big question was in what to do with it. Another question was how long could it last without being coated. I didn’t have any black and white film so didn’t have a coating stick. I didn’t know what to do.

It wasn’t quite 6pm and the downtown store didn’t close until 6. Looking at my watch I figured that if I jumped in the car and drove like a mad man I might just make the camera store. I didn’t even give a thought to telling Elle where I was going. I actually arrived at the back door after 6pm but found the manager was still there. I knocked on the door and, thankfully, it opened. I explained what I needed and he laughed. He ducked back inside and quickly returned with four small containers. He gave then all to me saying that there should be enough ”stuff“ left to cover at least one picture. As far as the picture was concerned I was relieved as I spread the gel over it. Now I had to come up with something to explain to Elle where I'd gone.

By the time I got back I’d come up with a ”line“ to feed Elle. I told her that Jay had given me the camera back with the new film but hadn’t given me the instructions. I told her that I’d gone back to see if they were in the trash at work. I was never sure when I’d give her a ”line“ weather she fully bought into it or not and this was another case of the same. I did have the instructions in my hand when I came back inside so at least there was some credence to my story.

I’d left the picture in the car but I was still in a quandary as to what to do with it. I knew that Jay would probably be happy to have it but I didn’t want him to know that I’d seen it. I lay in bed trying to come up with a way to give it to him but couldn’t. Of course I wanted it too. The big risk was in Jo finding that I’d even seen it. Knowing her as well as I did by then I knew she’d be devastated. By the time I fell asleep I’d pretty much decided that it needed to go with my stash of panties over at my grandfather's carriage house.

END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74h)

The last week of a month was always a bit rushed because we had to prepare for extra reports. On top of that I had a full County payroll to run. I’d been in the DP department almost a year and we hadn’t experienced a major problem with the computer... until that week. I was just at the beginning of my payroll run when it stopped. Unfortunately, this time it was something that our regular repairman couldn’t step Jay through and had to ask for assistance from the area office. We were told that it would be at least four hours until that help would arrive. Basically, we were dead in the water. Both Jo and I needed the computer to continue on our respective projects. We’d both done all the prep work necessary and, to stay on schedule, we knew we’d have to work late. Knowing that it’d be at least four hours and probably be more, Jay suggested that the both of us take off from work. He said he’d call when the special technician had a chance to assess the problem and to guestimate the time necessary to fix it. Jo and I both agreed.

It was early afternoon when I got home. Elle had been called in to teach so I knew the kids were at the neighbor’s. I went to check up on them and was told they were taking naps. With time on my hands I headed for the trailer with the idea of looking through the Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs. In the few minutes I spent looking in the Sears catalog the week prior I was really surprised at the broad spectrum of product. I now had a chance to take a closer look.

I started from the front and not having a real interest in female clothing, especially Winter wear, found myself in the lingerie section. It was unbelievable. Although I was mostly only looking at line drawings the range and scope of the things there had me with a soft bulge. I remember wanting to kick myself for not knowing what was hidden in those pages all those years. My ”excuse” was that my parents, for whatever reason, had never dealt with Sears (or Montgomery Ward) and even when I’d seen a random catalog at a friends house I had no reason to peruse it. Dumb me!

I’d spent a lot of time looking at panties in stores but I probably saw more choices in the pages I was staring at. When I reached the last page I grabbed for the Montgomery Ward book and went looking for their lingerie section. It was another eye opener. However, I did find one thing of great interest... the name “Carol Brent”. It took a few seconds for it to register but when it did it put a big smile on my face. Carol Brent was the trade name Ward’s used on some lines of their lingerie. Once I realized that I started looking in earnest for the cotton panties that I now knew Janelle, from next door, was wearing at least at night. When I located them they were in a section of what I would call “warm wear”, in with long johns and like garments. I also liked their price at 6 for $3.99. I was excited enough to think about driving down town to order some right then. But reality took hold and I knew I need to be ready for when Jay called so put the catalog number on a piece of paper and stuffed it in my wallet.

Jay called at around 7pm and said to be back around 8pm. I helped Elle get the girls ready for bed and then left for work. Jay had indicated that we’d work only to midnight and if everything was working we’d still be able to make our deadlines. When I walked in there was no one there... no Jay, Jo or repairmen. All the panels were back on the computer and it was running so it seemed as if all was well. There were no notes warning that the machine was ‘down“ so I took the first tray of payroll cards and started in. A few minutes later I saw Jay coming from the back of the room. He looked a bit disheveled but Jay was never one for neatness so I didn’t say anything. It wasn’t quite 8pm and I figured Jo would be walking through the door at any minute. I was putting the first processed tray in line for the printer when I saw someone go out the back door. Whoever it was was wearing dark trousers and had shirttails hanging out. At first II thought it was probably one of the repair people. A few minutes later Jo walked in the main doors. She was her usual cheerful self with a big smile on her face. As she walked past me I saw that the back of her blouse was out and that she was wearing dark pants. It took but a second for me to connect the ”dots“... She and Jay had to have been in one of the storage rooms. Now it was my turn to smile.

That weekend Elle was in a ”tizzy“ about weather to have a birthday party, with guests, for Anne. So, that weekend we did the planning for the party, buying all the decorations. One of the things Elle definitely wanted was to have pictures. I went to get the camera to see if I needed film and found it wasn’t there. I was puzzled and concerned. It was my grandfather’s good Polaroid camera.

END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74g)

Back from my ”duty“ I found something to eat and sat at the dining room table. With cash a little tight during the Summer without Elle’s teaching money, we’d created a ”want vs need“ list. Because I’d gotten a Sears credit card to buy tires and other things to help out Lance’s used car business Elle and I used it a few times when we'd came upon a ”need“ that couldn’t be put off. As I sat there the ”Wish Book“ was open to a page that showed dolls. Anne, our youngest was going to be two in just a few weeks. Jean, our oldest had a doll as did her good friend, Julie. Since Jean never went anywhere without Anne it had become a problem since she didn’t have her own doll and was always trying to take one of the other girl’s dolls. Elle and I both felt that age two was a little young for a ”good“ doll so Sears was going to be the source. As I looked at the page I noticed a few pieces of paper slipped into other areas of the catalog. I flipped to the pages so noted and saw that she’d picked out a few items of clothing. With our anniversary the day after Anne’s birthday and her own birthday coming at the end of October I took the hint. One of the items was a sweater in a color that we both liked. I decided to take down the catalog number and to order it. I figured that if she got bold enough to ask for it I’d play hard hearted and say we couldn’t afford it. One way or the other I was going to surprise her.

I needed to do some maintenance on my car that afternoon and and went to Sears for what I needed. While there I ordered the sweater. By the time I was finished Elle was back home. When I walked in I noticed there were now two catalogs on the table but didn’t say anything. The kids had fallen asleep on her way home and were sleeping. As I walked past the table I pretended to ignore the catalogs. It only took Elle a few seconds for her to call my attention to the one opened to the dolls. I told her dolls weren’t in my field of interest so to just pick out whichever one she thought would work. It was then that I asked about the other catalog.

It was from Montgomery Ward. She said they'd just opened a catalog store in the building right next to my grandparents house. I’d just come from there and hadn’t even noticed. She said that Millie, the next door neighbor, had told her about it and had brought over her catalog but she had yet to look at it. I still had things to do in the yard including putting the kids plastic pool away for the Winter. Since it was semi rigid plastic the only place for it was under the trailer. That meant I had to remove some of the skirting to slide it under. I’d put off doing it for just that reason. I’d gotten two of the four pieces off when Jim walked up and said he’d pick me up at 5:30pm. I remember looking at him wondering just what he was talking about. Seeing my puzzled look he asked if I’d forgotten that we were going to the stock car races. I had. When the races were canceled the previous Saturday I’d somehow put it in my brain that the season was over. Jim laughed and walked away. As I finished up with the pool I figured Elle wouldn’t take the news of me heading for the races all that well. She’d hinted that it would be nice for us to have a ”movie date“ especially since the movie that was playing was one she’d heard was good. I’m not sure what the name of it was but it starred Jack Lemmon and Kim Novak... who I’d had a crush on from the first time I’d seen her. I was mad at myself for forgetting about the races.

When I walked into the trailer and casually asked if she could fix me a bite to eat she knew something was up and that it wasn’t good. I tried to explain how I’d promised Jim and Andy that I’d go to the last night of races with them a long time ago. She looked at me and told me I could fix my own ”bite“ to eat and headed down the hallway. She pretty much ignored me until I went out the door.

Our new friend, Eric, also went with us and we had a good time. As I remember it Jim’s cousin didn’t fare too well in the featured race but Eric had a good time chatting with him. For my part I caught up with my friend, Cliffy, who was now out of the Navy and working for his father. Cliffy’s father had built my first race car and had owned race cars at the track for ten years. They weren’t racing that night but Cliffy told me they were in the process of building a new car to race in the top division for the next season. I told him of my ”acquisition“ of a race car and how Eric was going to help me. I also mentioned that I didn’t have a motor and wondered if they knew of one that might be available. Cliffy laughed and said they sure did. It was the motor that his father had been running but it had blown a piston and that was why the car wasn’t there that night. My first thought was that I didn’t really want a damaged engine but before I could say anything Cliff Sr. said it was an easy fix and that he’d sell it to me at a ”right“ price. I was excited. All of a sudden the idea of my racing was becoming somewhat real. All I had to do now was to come up with some money... but I had about seven and one half months to do so. I was happy even though I knew I knew I would be in for a few ”snuggle free“ nights at home until Elle calmed down.

END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74f)

Discretion being the better part of valor, I persuaded Jay to hold off until the fallout over the new tape drive eased. Leo, the Deputy Controller, was still seething over the fact that Jay had made the request for it directly to the Controller, bypassing him. I suggested that we come up with some empirical data to support the additional person to strengthen the need. Reluctantly, he agreed. He created a log for each of us to document just what we were doing and when we did it with special emphasis on when we needed help to complete our projects in a timely manner. We figured that a few weeks would be enough.

Other than that the week went by fairly normal until Friday. Once the regular payroll was done and the bills were paid we still had reports to run. However, Jay had a number of new programs he needed to test on the computer. That put both Jo and I behind so we ended up staying later than usual so as to not be ”thrashing“ on the following Monday morning. Actually, there were four of us still there after 5pm. I was running the decollating machine which was near what we called the ”back door“. The main entrance had glass in it with the department name lettered on it. The other door was further down the hall and had no window. We often used it because it was close to where we usually worked. From the time we arrived until the last person left the door was unlocked. I looked up and there was Rena. Once we made eye contact she made a motion as if to unbutton her blouse. It only took a second for me to figure out what she was doing. She wanted to know if I was going to come over to her office for my ”Friday night peek“. I looked around and even though everyone was busy I thought better of it and waved her off. It had been a few weeks since the last time and, although tempted, didn’t want to give any wrong ideas to Jay and Jo. I can tell you that I didn’t need x-ray vision to know what was happening right across the hall.

Saturday was going to be a "bear". I hadn’t mowed the lawn in over two weeks and it looked terrible. I hadn’t been over to see my grandfather in almost a month and felt guilty about it. The list went on from there. Elle’s godmother was visiting her parents so she took the kids to show them off as I started on the lawn. She hadn’t been gone for long when Eric, the new guy in our little group (and race car driver), showed up at my fence. He told me he’d taken a close look at the race car and felt that roll cage needed to be re-welded. He said he could do it if I knew anyone with an arc welder. I didn’t, off hand, but was excited that he’d taken enough interest to check the car out and to make the offer. We’d been chatting for a while when I saw his wife headed for us. The night I’d first seen her the only part that I really saw was her butt as she climbed the stairs to go in their trailer. Let’s put it this way... her outstanding feature was her body. It wasn’t that she was unattractive but most guys concentrated on her ”top“ and ”bottom“. She’d come to fetch Eric for a phone call and as they walked away I watched her nice round bottom stride off. I was looking for a VPL. Unfortunately, her pants were too dark to see much but I can still see those cheeks swaying as she walked away.

Not only had it been a long time since I’d seen my grandfather, it’d been a lot longer since I’d taken him up to the hospital see my grandmother. His health had failed enough for him to need a wheelchair on those visits. As I wheeled him down the hall I saw a face that I thought I recognized. It was Cammy, a private duty nurse who had worked taking care of my grandmother before she was hospitalized and I’d seen her at the house on a few occasions a few years back. As I reintroduced myself I was struck by the tight white uniform she was wearing and as she continued on down the hall I turned and could see the definite outline of her panties through it, riding on her hips. If I hadn’t been pushing my grandfather I’d would’ve definitely found a reason to follow her.

There was absolutely no change with my grandmother. Totally in another world. It was sad watching my grandfather take one of her hands and then try to talk with her. It was only a few minutes before Cammy walked into the room. My sadness went away instantly. She went over to my grandmother and leaned towards her to try and put another pillow behind her. As she did I got a partial VPL with a bit of crotch line. I don’t know if her uniform was extra sheer but the white of her panties through it (and maybe a slip) was very clear. When she straightened up I took the time to see what she really looked like and she definitely qualified as ”cute“. That was a deadly combination... VPL and cute.

Technically, my grandmother shouldn’t have been in the hospital. She should’ve been in a nursing home. However, my grandfather had made a number of large contributions when they were building the hospital and the Trustees were somewhat beholden to him so she was allowed to stay. He still had to pay for the room and the only caveat was that he had to provide private care nurses for her. That’s where Cammy came in. She’d impressed my grandfather when she’d cared for my grandmother a few years earlier but she had a somewhat permanent position until that lady died. Once free, my grandfather hired her. Based upon what I’d seen that day it was OK by me!

END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74e)

Jack and I were on the road by 6am. Being a Saturday the traffic was fairly light. As we approached my town Jack suggested that I drop him off at his grandparents who lived there as well. I liked the idea because it would save me about an hour. I was really looking forward to seeing Elle and the kids as this was the longest time I’d been away from them. I’d decided to take the boat to my parents garage for Winter storage the next day to give me a chance to relax. The first thing I noticed as I made the turn towards the trailer was that the station wagon was gone. As I pulled up in front I saw clothes on the wash line. I knew Elle couldn’t be too far away. Inside, I found a note on the table telling me that she had taken the kids as well as Millie and her daughters to her mother’s to go swimming in the bay. That puzzled me as it looked like it was about to rain. I was trying to digest all of this when the phone rang. It was Elle. It was raining at her mother’s house and she wanted me to collect all the clothes off the line even if they weren’t completely dry. I was on the way out the door when the phone rang again. It was Elle, again, asking me to do the same for Millie’s clothes.

I was just about finished with our wash line when it started to sprinkle. For us it was mostly sheets and the kids clothes. I dumped them all in the bathtub and ran outside to get Millie’s things. As I stepped over the fence I got a glimpse of one of my favorite things... panties. The wind had come up and as it blew the sheets closest to me to and fro I could see panties behind them. I ducked under the sheets and there were four panties that, from their size, had to be Janelle’s swinging back and forth on the line. Over time I’d seen a number of Janelle’s panties and they'd all been nylon or acetate. These were obviously cotton and they were also band leg. I grabbed at the one closest to me and as as soon as I did I could tell that they were a heavy cotton. But they weren’t like Elle’s, heavy ribbed cotton, but were very soft like my T shirts. As I inspected them I could feel that they were a lot heavier and softer than my shirts. By then it had started to rain but I wanted to see the label... Carol Brent size small. Another new brand! As the rain increased I started just pulling the wash off the line letting the clothes pins fall where they may. I got to the last line and discovered two pair of plastic panties. The answer to the question I’d asked before leaving for the championships was on the wash line. Millie had taken the advice to help Janelle and her night time wetting... and I had another brand of panty to research and find. Carrying the wash back to the trailer I could feel the bulge in my pants.

I put Millie’s wash on the dining room table and took a closer look at the cotton panties. I knew that Janelle wore a size 4 nylon panty having seen a few of them but these were obviously larger. I went to get a pair of Elle’s cotton ones and laid them on top of what I was sure were Janelle’s and they were about the same size. It was a bit puzzling but, by the same token, interesting. Interesting in the sense that Millie had to have gotten them locally and that meant if I could find out where I’d buy some for Elle.

Before Elle got home I got a call from Jim. With rain the stock car races had been postponed. I’d forgotten that I’d told him that I’d go on the last night of the season. I actually gave out a sigh of relief. I couldn’t even imagine what the conversation between Elle and I would have been like if I’d told her I was going to the races that night.

When Elle got back Millie went to her trailer to close the windows before coming to collect her wash. I was tempted to point out the cotton panties to Elle but decided not to. Millie thanked me for “rescuing” her clean wash and I remember thinking that it was I who should be thanking her for asking me. If she hadn’t I wouldn’t have been made aware of another brand of interesting panties.

Back at work on Monday I was greeted by a new look. The correct panels had been installed to define our work area. No longer would people walking down the hall be able to look in at us. Inside, panels had been put up to create defined storage areas. Even though we’d only been in the space a short time I’d become used to the openness of it and now it seemed more confined. I could also see the channels had been laid down for the panels to create an office for Jay. It was going to take some getting used to.

Even with the short week and my absence the Police payroll went off without a hitch. I was about to start in on the reports for it when the door from the hall opened. It was Rena. She just stuck her head in to say “Hi” and disappeared. What was missing, though, was Jay. I asked Jo where he was and she said he was preparing for a Board of Supervisors meeting. They were going to consider leasing the new tape drive that the three of us had gone to the city to see demonstrated earlier in the year. That was good news... if they passed the proposal. The department was in desperate need of help both mechanical and in personnel. We’d been able to keep up mostly though the dedication of Jay, Jo, Lucy and myself, finding ways to get more done in the same amount of time.

When Jay walked in he looked “drained”. Never one for stepping forward in a true leadership role, he’d been put through what he called a “wringer” with all their questions. He said he had no idea of how they would vote but said the Controller was talking with the Supervisors when he was excused. About mid day the Controller walked in to give Jay a “thumbs up”. It was great news and Jay, Jo and I took off to have a celebratory lunch.

I was truly surprised when Jay took us to the restaurant that Rena worked at. I asked why he’d chosen that place and he said that Rena had come in a few time the week before and suggested it. I wondered why Rena had been “visiting“ when, basically, the only person she knew in DP was me... but I didn’t pursue it. It was somewhat strange to be eating ”real“ food at lunch but we had a good time. Jay went over his plans for the new piece of equipment and also the pressing need for an additional machine operator. He, again, asked both Jo and I if we felt Lucy could handle it and we said we were OK with it. We all knew the request for the new position was sitting in the Deputy Controller’s office but Jay hadn’t wanted to go up against him with the approval for the tape drive pending. With that over with he said he was now ready to do battle.

THE END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74d)

I felt much the same as Blake. The sailing conditions were awful, especially for those who didn’t know the “secrets” of the local waters. The local sailors were making a joke of the whole thing as three of them had the first three places with one of them winning all of the three races sailed. What galled Blake so much was that only one of them had ever been competitive in previous championships. However, my father had stressed upon me to finish what I’d started and although I had no desire to race the afternoon race, I did.

I was surprised to see Blake and Joy out on the race course after his comments at lunch. I sailed over by them and saw that Joy had changed to a pair of clamdiggers (pants that went just below the knees). Blake said that he was going to let Joy skipper to get some experience but he said they wouldn’t interfere with the rest of the competitors and would probably quit after one time around the course. It turned out to be the best finish for me of the four races I’d sailed. I think I beat half the boats who had started (about a half dozen had quit or hadn't even started) but it left me around 30th over all. When we headed for shore I thanked Neil for giving up his time to sail with me and apologized that we hadn’t done better. I really believe that if I’d said I wasn’t going to sail the second race that day that he would’ve kissed me. We were both miserable.

Blake’s boat was there on the trailer but with the mast out when we got back. That told me he was headed home. I’d come to like him a lot and of course, there was always Joy to look at and contemplate. As we cleaned up the boat and gathered our belongings I saw Joy collecting equipment from inside their boat. It had finally warmed up and she'd changed to shorts and a T shirt. I caught Neil taking another good look as she leaned into the boat. I got what I was hoping for and that was a peek at her panties right at her butt cheeks. It was a surprise as the panties didn't have the band leg that I'd seen in the VPL's I'd seen. When she straightened up I asked if we could give her a hand carrying things to their car. She said “sure” and Neil and I both hustled over to her boat. She walked on ahead and Neil, with his arms full of gear soon followed. I noticed that there were some things under the rear deck so I hopped up into the cockpit to retrieve them. I could barely reach so just kind of swept them back and into the cockpit. Back on the ground I saw that one of the items was the light green pants that Joy had been wearing and they were all rolled up. I can tell you that my heart was beating at an accelerated rate. Neil and Joy weren't in sight as I unrolled them inside the cockpit and found the treasure I was hoping for. I never hesitated a second, grabbing the panties and stuffing them into my pocket. I rolled the pants back up and along with a canvas tool bag and a couple of thermos jars headed for the parking lot. Joy and Neil passed me headed on back to the boats and when I got to their car just handed the stuff I had to Blake. My heart was still pounding.

I chose to head for the clubhouse rather than to return to the boats. I really wanted a look at those panties and I knew the rest room would be a safe place. As I pulled them out of my pocket I noticed a fairly big damp area on my pants where the pocket was. The panties had been wet enough to wick through. That wasn’t important though. As I unraveled them from the ball they were in I saw something that I’d never seen before. The label was on the outside and attached to the waist elastic and in the front. The label read “Argo Knit”; size 5. They were cotton but were the soft combed cotton and not like the Carter’s heavy cotton panties that Elle wore. There was a slight discoloration in the crotch area but as I looked them over it seemed like Joy had washed them out. A quick sniff didn’t really tell me much. As I rolled them back up I remember feeling that it was a good “find” in that they were different than any others I had. Before I left the bathroom I went to a sink and, as I’d done at least once before, splashed water on the front of my pants.

Back at my boat Neil was anxious to head back to his college and his girlfriend. I wasn’t going to be leaving for home until the morning and had all evening to dismantle it and to get it ready to trail. I looked for either Blake or Joy to say good bye before we left and couldn’t find either. As Neil and I headed off for his school I actually felt a little relieved that I didn’t see Joy what with her panties still in my pocket.

Upon retuning to the club I prepared the boat for the trip home. My plan was to leave the next morning a little after daybreak which would get me though the city before “rush hour” really began. I had no idea where Jack, Frank and his wife were when I got back to the motel room. Bored, I ended up falling asleep in front of the TV. It was Frank who woke me up.

One of my father’s pet phrases was “Plans are made to be changed.” When Frank shook me awake I wasn’t sure where I was so it took a minute or so for what he said to sink in. He’d decided to stay in the area after the races were over and he wanted me to take Jack home. I didn’t like what I was hearing but I also knew that Jack had to get home and I was about the only way to get him there. After digesting the situation what it boiled down to was that if Frank did well in the last race and was in a trophy position I couldn’t leave until Saturday morning. It wasn’t so much “couldn’t” but it would have been a big disappointment for Jack not to get the recognition and trophy he deserved. I gave Frank a little “grief” and got him to agree to buy me some gas and to pay for the room for Friday night if they did well and we had to stay. Psychologically I was ready to go home right then and there. Even with the “perks” that Frank offered I still wasn’t a happy camper.

Watching the race on Friday morning I was rooting for Frank to do poorly. It didn’t work. He managed to do well enough to secure the last trophy position; seventh. Of course Jack was ecstatic. As a final “bone” Frank bought me a ticket to the banquet and I do remember the food being pretty good.

THE END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74c)

The weather was cooler than most had expected so a lot of the competitors and their crews ended up wearing long pants and long sleeved shirts or sweat shirts in lieu of shorts and T shirts. Joy was wearing a pale green pair of cotton slacks and whenever she bent over I got a VPL. I was surprised to see the panties had band legs which pretty much meant they were cotton. I also remember pointing it out to Neil and seeing him smile. I was hoping that the wind would come up later on and that the resulting waves would get them wet. As vivid a VPL as I saw I pictured them as being very transparent once the material got wet. However, the wind never did come up to any great degree and that, along with the fact that there were five competitors from the local sailing club who knew where to go in those conditions, made for a long first race. Even with a good start I ended up finishing in the high 20’s. Back at the club for a lunch break we ended up eating at the same table as Blake and his daughter. He had the same complaint as I did... too many boats and not enough wind. During the break Joy was “entertained” by quite a few of the younger crowd which, this time, did include Jack.

The strategy that was bantered about during the break was to follow the local sailors. I’d always felt that following was an admission of defeat. For the second race I chose to do what I’d done many times before and went off in a somewhat different direction only to find myself crossing paths with, you guessed it, Blake. There was still only light wind that came in short bursts. We ended up sailing side by side for one whole leg of the course. We chatted a bit but my eyes were mostly on Joy. She was still wearing the same pants but as the temperature had gone up she'd rolled up the sleeves of her shirt and tied the tails of it around her midrift. Sitting on the deck with her back to us I could see a bit of the waistband of her panties but because of the direction we were sailing and the direction of the wind I couldn’t get as close as I’d liked. But seeing just that least little bit gave me hope for later when we were back on shore.

After the first two races I was way down in the standings as was Blake. Surprisingly, Frank had managed to pull out a top five finish in the second race. Of the five locals four of them were in the top five positions. That created a lot of conversation as we cleaned the boats up once back on shore. Neil’s girlfriend had come back to pick him up which saved me a lot of time (and gas). However, when she walked up to the boat she caught Neil giving Joy a good “look”. As they left I could hear her complaining about it. I remember thinking “Poor Neil... and he isn’t even married.”

My hoped for “peeks” of Joy and her panties didn’t come to fruition that afternoon. Again, after cleaning up, we returned to the club. On this night it was a cook out but the problem was that the wind which had never really come up during the day suddenly appeared. The wind on top of the cool temperature made things a bit uncomfortable so many people left after getting their food. On our way back to the motel Jack informed me that Joy (and her father) were staying at the same one. It was almost laughable.

The next day was almost the same as the day before. Cool with very little wind. I’d managed to get into a conversation with Frank to find out his “secret” for the good finish from the day before. I had nothing to lose so decided to follow his suggestion and I managed to get to the first mark in third place. Then the wind stopped... altogether. Because the second leg of the race was downwind it meant that when the wind picked up it would come from behind us. All the boats who followed us around that first mark would get the fresh wind before us. I sat and watched some thirty odd boats go sailing by and was unable to do anything about it. I was really mad by the time that leg was over. The only thing that kept me from screaming was that Blake and Joy were right behind us.

The wind died again and we were out there for almost five hours from the time we'd originally left the dock until we finally crossed the finish line. I think we finished something like 35th and Blake was maybe 32nd. At the dock at the club I noticed something that really caught my eye. When Joy stood up to grab the dock I saw a very noticeable stain on the seat of her pants. I only got one look but I was sure I was right. She and Blake tied up a couple of boats ahead and I wanted to be positive about it. I left Neil to secure everything and ran down the dock with the idea of engaging Blake in conversation so I could get a good look at Joy’s pants. Luck was with me as he was still in the boat.

We’d both joked about dropping out of the race when we were so far behind and he’d even indicated that he might head home that afternoon. I used that as my subject. As we talked I got two quick peeks at the crotch of Joy’s pants and there was no hiding the yellowish color. Blake got out of the boat and we talked on the dock while Joy stayed in the boat. He told me that he’d leave it up to Joy whether they stayed or left as he walked down the dock.

I went back to my boat and told Neil to get something to eat. I wanted to be in a position to see Joy if she decided to leave her boat. After a short while her father came back with a towel and, much to my disappointment, she put it around her and proceed to get out and walk down the dock.

END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74b)

The last Sunday races for the season were basically unmemorable. My crew was the same college kid I’d used in the races to qualify for the championships. I wasn’t in the running for a season trophy so I used the races as practice, working with him on maneuvers within the cockpit. His name was Neil and one of the reasons he was able to sail with me in the championships was that his college was only about 35 miles form the racing venue. I, somewhat reluctantly, agreed to drop him and his belongings off at the college as his “pay” for crewing. The only caveat was that his first day of classes was the same day as the last scheduled race. We worked it out that if I was in contention for a trophy that he’d skip the classes and sail with me. If not I’d just head on home after the last race on Thursday.

The other qualifier from our area was my club mate, Frank. His wife, Ronnie, had been “missing” during the early part of the season and Frank had taken on one of the high school boys from the junior sailing program as his crew. Jack had worked out so well for Frank that he sailed with him for the whole season. His school was to start that Wednesday and Frank had to do a real sales job on his parents to let him go and sail in the championships. It worked out well for me as well. Ronnie, now obviously pregnant, was going along to watch the races which meant that Frank was going to have to pay for a room for Jack. Neil had stated that he wanted to return to his campus each night so he could be with his girl friend. Then, she would drive him back for the races each morning. Initially it looked like I would be stuck with the cost of a room with just me in it until I worked it out so Jack would stay with me and Frank would pay for him.

Neil and I left at around 5:30am for two reasons. The first was to avoid the worst of the morning rush hour traffic. The second was so that I could deliver Neil to his school and still have time to get the boat and sails measured, a requirement at each yearly championship. By the time I arrived at the sailing club it was around 4pm. I got Jack to give me a hand as Frank had already taken his boat through the process. My boat and trailer were parked right next to a fellow that I’d competed against in my prior attempts at the championships. I didn’t really “know” him but I did know that he was very successful in racing two other type sailboats (Lightning’s and Star’s) and that he'd not done all that well racing this class of boat, a Comet. After greeting him, Blake advised me that the inspectors measuring sails had discovered a problem with all the sails made by the company that had made mine. Not good news.

Jack and I had no problems getting the boat through inspection. When I went to where they were measuring sails I could see that there were some people with a “hot knife” (used to cut synthetic material) busily working on a number of sails. The smell of the burning material made me choke. There was a sail on the floor and, in spite of my discomfort, it caught my attention because there was a girl down on her haunches holding one corner of it. I could see three things as I looked down at her... the flesh of her back; the elastic from a pair of panties and her shorts. I quickly decided I could put up the smell for a few minutes.

As warned, my sail didn’t measure in and I had to cut a part of it off. When I finally got back to the boat I saw the same girl I’d just observed standing next to Blake’s boat and talking with him. He introduced me to her as his daughter, Joy. As I looked at them both I couldn’t see any resemblance. Blake was about 5’ 9“ tall and a bit stocky. Joy was easily 5’ 10” and thin. Blake had dark hair and Joy was closer to blonde. She was sixteen and going to be a junior in high school. This trip to the championships was a “reward” for having won the junior sailing prize at their home sailing club. As I listened to all of this I was picturing her standing there in just her panties. More cute than pretty I remember hoping to see more panty peeks during the rest of the week.

After getting cleaned up Jack and I went back to the club for an informal “meet and greet” put on by the host club. There were over 40 boats entered and it seemed like there were 100 plus with all the people who were there. I’d told Jack about meeting Joy and suggested that it might be fun for him to look her up. By the time we arrived it was almost too late for that. There were probably 10 young males for each young female and it seemed like there were at least that many gathered around the table where she was sitting. In a dress and with her hair tied back she looked a lot prettier than earlier in the day. Back at the motel room Jack seemed disappointed that he never got to meet her.

Through the years it has never ceased to amaze me how often I’ve been places where no matter what it is that I do I keep running into the same few people. In this case it was Blake and his daughter. We were side by side at the preliminary meeting prior to the first race and even though we put our boats in the water using two different hoists we ended up side by side at one of the docks. I remember Blake making a comment about a “bad penny turning up” and I was never sure if he was referring to me or to himself. The best part of this coincidence was that I got to see more of Joy.

END OF SUMMER... September (Part 74a)

Labor Day weekend was always the unofficial end of Summer. With schools starting the day after Labor Day most of the “Summer people” would be packing up to leave. For me it was an incredibly busy time. As I’d written in prior posts the move of the DP equipment was to be done that Saturday. The birthday party for both Elle’s and my father was that Saturday night. Sunday was the last of the regular races at the sailing club followed that night by the trophy presentations. Labor Day itself was when I had to get the boat and trailer ready to leave for the championships since I was planning on leaving Tuesday morning at around 6am.

Jay was the only one required to be there for the move of the equipment but there was no way I was going to miss it. When I arrived Jay was already there but so was Jo who also wasn’t required to be there. Seeing her in shorts was a refreshing change and I hoped it would lead to a “peek’ or two. The “riggers” (the official classification of the movers) got there at 7am and started right in. The County Center maintenance people had removed partitions on Friday so that the computer itself could be moved so there was no delay there. I have to admit I was surprised at how little time it took. It was a classic example of having people who knew what they were doing to get the job done. By 11am they were done. Jay had figured it would take at least six hours if not more. I’d told Elle I’d be home around three. Jo had even brought food from her family's restaurant. Jay said he wanted to get every piece of equipment up and running and we were all for it.

Because it was a holiday weekend the building’s main air conditioning was off... except in our new space. Our proprietary HVAC made the air in the room quite nice even though there were a few partitions missing that separated the hallway from our space. At month end there were always reports to be done but where we would’ve started them Friday we couldn’t as we had to prepare the equipment for the move. I think we were all surprised when each and every piece of equipment worked without a hitch. Jay looked at Jo and I and asked if we wanted to get a head start since we were already there and Monday was a holiday. We said “why not” and started right in.

Jo had brought food but nothing to drink. We’d been there since before 7am and Jay suggested we take a break, get something to drink, and go out to the lake and eat. We hadn’t done that in a while so it seemed like a good idea. We stopped at the delicatessen on the traffic circle and headed for our “spot”. As I described in earlier posts, the road ran right next to the lake on the North side of it. There was some underbrush that prevented people in cars from seeing the lake but there were a few places where people had cut it back making paths to the water. We’d found one that we liked as there were some large rocks where we could sit. Some were located just a few feet out into the lake and the others were right at the edge of the water. Jo, wearing shorts, waded out to a rock surrounded by water where she could dangle her feet. Jay and I took up rocks along the shore.

When we’d visited the lake in the past it was during the work week and there was little activity actually out on the lake itself. With this being Labor Day weekend it was entirely different. There were power boats with water skiers as well as small sailboats and people in canoes. Jo was sitting facing Jay with her back facing the lake. I didn’t see it coming but a wake from a power boat hit the rock that Jo was sitting on washing some water up and onto it. When Jo felt the water hit her she screamed and jumped off. As always, she responded with a smile and a laugh. I responded in a completely different way... pure delight.

Jo had worn a pair of pale yellow shorts and when the water splashed up and wet her bottom it made them somewhat transparent. I liked what I saw, for sure. Jay surprised me by making a comment along the lines that she looked like she’d wet her pants. I didn't respond. Upon hearing the remark she laughed again but made no effort to hide the wetness. She joined Jay on the rock where he was sitting and we finished up with our lunch. When she got up the wet spot on the rock was quite large. I waited for a few seconds so as to get a really good look at her backside. I loved VPL’s but when the person I was looking at was wearing a pair of wet pastel colored shorts, the view was especially good... good enough to start a bulge.

The “view” was almost as good when we got back to the office. Jo complained that her butt was cold because of the air conditioning. I thought it was funny and kept my eyes on her as much as I could while trying to get a few reports run. I left at 3pm and did so reluctantly. I certainly wished that Jo could wear shorts every day to work.

That night Elle and I had the annual dual birthday party for our fathers to go to. The only thing worth noting was that for the first time anyone not in our two families came. The party was at my parents house and they invited the next door neighbors to come over to share in the cake. They were about six or seven years older than Elle and I and about 25 years younger than my parents. However, they’d become close friends in just the few years they’d spent their Summers there. Almost every time I’d seen the lady she was wearing short shorts and this night was no different. She ended up sitting next to me and I could see about a half inch of her panties at the leg opening of her shorts. It was a “first” for me and made my night. All in all it was a very good day.

MORE SUMMER FUN... August (Part 73j)

With Elle not teaching because of Summer break and the fact that I’d not made much extra money over the Summer our finances were getting quite tight. We agreed to make a two part list made up of “Needs” and “Wants”. Each of us could add to either list but we had to fully agree when buying anything on the “Wants” list. One that I’d written was to be able to go to the sailing championships. With the “Needs” list constantly growing because of the kids it seemed almost impossible for me to go. This time getting off from work was not in question because not only did I have time coming to me but Jo had trained Lucy to fill in for her and I’d trained Jo to do my work. It was purely money. The college student that had sailed with me to qualify was attending school only a short distance from where the races were to be held and the race schedule had only one conflict for him. He was excited about crewing for me and since he would be sleeping in his room on campus I wouldn’t have much, if any, expense on his part. As I mentioned earlier, the reason Elle wasn’t going was that school started the day after Labor Day, the day the championships were to begin. Elle had been offered two weeks of steady work filling in for a teacher on maternity leave. She’d gotten a raise and the two weeks were worth around $150, before taxes. I pleaded with her to let me go by telling her that this might be my last chance at competing at this level and she, reluctantly, agreed.

Jim and Andy had continued to press me on going to the stock car races and I told them that I would try as soon as sailing season was over. Andy had recruited another guy to go with them. He (and his wife) had bought Mac’s trailer and he had raced stock cars before going in the Air Force. On a night that I was home they dropped by to introduce the new guy... Eric. I liked him right from the start. A big, rugged guy from way upstate. He said he still had a race car back at home but had no way to get it. When we started talking I told him I’d like to see some pictures. We went back to his trailer and he brought out a small album. The car looked just like the one that Jim’s cousin raced. I thought it was great that there was now a racer living in the park.

The four of us were sitting on the patio in the dark when Eric’s wife arrived. She was working as a waitress at the diner just off the traffic circle and had just gotten off. Even though my eyes were accustomed to the dark I really couldn’t make out her features. I did notice, as she went up the steps to the trailer, that she had a nice round butt. I also remember making a mental note to myself that I wanted to see that butt in that uniform in the daylight.

Jay, as always, was very tight lipped about his personal affairs. The fact that he and Jo were close was common knowledge. However, nothing was ever mentioned about his wife and daughter. When Jay started putting some of his things up for sale I was hoping that he’d give a reason. The big surprise was when he said he was going to sell his El Camino. I asked “why” and he said he just didn’t have time for it. He also asked if he could borrow the Polaroid camera so he could take a few pictures of it to put on some “flyers” he was going to post. At the same time he told me that if I had any interest in the race car that he’d shown me that he’d give it to me. “Free” was a very popular word with me. After a brief discussion he even said he’d tow it from his house to the trailer park for me. I’m sure you’ve heard of “buyers remorse”. The night after I told him I’d take it I couldn’t sleep knowing that Elle would have fit when I told her. There was also the question of weather the “boys” who owned the park would let me store it there. The one good thing was that I now owned a race car... even if it was missing some very critical parts including the motor.

I started by asking if I could park it out where some of the old equipment for the trailer park was stored. Dick didn’t have a problem with it but Ben, in his usual negative way put some restrictions on it. The big one was easy in that I couldn’t run the motor. I told Dick that I was aiming to get it ready to race for the following Summer and that I’d put an advertisement on it for the trailer park. He liked that idea and even volunteered to let me order parts using the business name to get a discount. The car wasn’t even there yet and I was getting excited.

Jay found some wheels to put on the race car so he could flat tow it to the trailer park. I told Jim, Andy and Eric about it and they were there when it arrived. As I mentioned earlier, it was a wreck... rusted, dented and ugly. The first thing Eric said was that all the welding needed to be re-done. I just added that to a list I’d already started. I decided that it would be best to not tell Elle and I made all the guys promise not to discuss the car in front of their wives. Eric came up with a suggestion that would pretty much eliminate getting me in trouble with Elle. For discussion purposes, he would be the owner. It sounded good to me so we ended up going back to Eric's trailer. His wife was just leaving for work and my wish to see her nice tight butt, in uniform, was granted. The color of it was burgundy, trimmed in white. As she walked past us I made note of what I was sure was a panty line of a leg elastic. It's somewhat funny because I was paying more attention to that than what she looked like. When I realized it I tried to get a look through the car window but it was too late.

MORE SUMMER FUN... August (Part 73i)

One morning, as I was on my way out the door, Elle stopped me and handed me the keys to the station wagon. I gave her one of those ”what the hell are you giving me your keys for“ looks and she said that Millie, our next door neighbor had asked for a favor. I had no problem with that as she had watched the kids when Elle had been called in to teach and done it without compensation. What I didn’t like was the ”surprise“ factor, especially on my way out the door. What Millie wanted was for me to pick up a mattress that she’d purchased. I knew that her husband, Alvin, was in Texas for his work so just gave Elle another ”look” letting her know I wasn’t happy. I did tell her that I’d do it after work though.

We parked the station wagon on the West side of the trailer and off the street and when I got home that evening I parked it there. I was going to take the mattress off the roof and over to Millie’s but before I got it untied Elle was there to tell me to wait. I really hadn’t thought much about the whole thing, being preoccupied by work. However, this interruption got me to ask what was going on. Elle said she’d explain over supper so I followed her inside.

The mattress was for Janelle, Millie and Alvin’s older (and much prettier) daughter. As Elle started she asked if I remembered how Janelle had wet herself while baby sitting for us right after we’d moved in to the new trailer. I had to work hard at not smiling when she asked. Then she sort of reminded me of Janelle’s “accident” at the recent picnic. I really didn’t know where she was going with this but remembering Janelle in wet shorts was enough for the start of a bulge.

Elle and Millie had become really good friends and one of the things that they did together was to go grocery shopping. It was perfect for Elle because Millie could watch one the kids and Elle the other. They took turns driving which also worked well. A few weeks prior, when Millie was driving, Elle had decided, for some reason, not to wear even a partial package. When they left the grocery store Millie decided to go to a farm stand for fresh grown vegetables. Elle stayed in the car but before Millie was done Elle felt herself start to dribble. Knowing what was imminent, she stepped out of the car trying to hide between the car and the door. It wasn’t long before she was going full force. If they’d been using our station wagon Elle might’ve been able to get away with it because of the vinyl seat covers. However, Millie’s car had cloth seats and Elle had to tell Millie what had happened. I had thought that as close as they were that Elle would’ve told Millie about her “problem” by then but evidently she hadn’t. On their way home she did.

A little background on Alvin and Millie is needed here... Alvin was a throwback to the strong male who thought he knew everything about anything and who demanded complete control of the family. When the two of them were together you never heard much of anything come from Millie’s lips. For those of you old enough to remember the TV sitcom All in the Family... Archie and Edith Bunker... and how Archie would tell Edith to “STIFLE!” whenever she would offer an opinion... Well, this wasn’t a sitcom. However, when Millie was away from Alvin it was hard to shut her up. For me it was just babbling. Elle actually tried to listen.

Millie told Elle that Alvin had always held the girls on a tight “leash”. When he started having to go to Texas for weeks at a time the girls were able to manipulate Millie to get some freedom. However, Janelle got caught in her freshman year of high school and Alvin had really come down hard and scared her but, according to Millie hadn’t actually hit her. The result was that she wet her bed that night. Millie said it didn't start off as a problem but after any confrontation between Janelle and her father it would happen again. Millie managed to keep that from Alvin for quite a while but when he did find out he “unloaded” on her again. That only made it worse for Janelle as he accused her of doing it on purpose. Her punishment was that she had to sleep in her soiled sheets until the regular washday. That punishment made the situation worse and Millie said that Janelle was wetting about three times a week and that her mattress was “unsleepable”. She told Elle that she’d been putting away the coins from her shopping and had managed to get enough for a new one.

After hearing that I had an immediate dislike for Alvin. I really didn’t have that much contact with him so didn’t dwell on it and concentrated on the situation at hand. Janelle’s birthday was coming up and although it was not a typical present, Millie felt that she would appreciate it. The reason Elle held me up from taking it over to their trailer was that the girls were going baby sitting and Millie wanted it to be a surprise. Elle had some of the rubberized sheeting left over and wanted to give it to Millie to at least help protect the mattress when I carried it over. For my part I was disappointed that Janelle wasn’t going to be there.

In the almost four years Elle and I’d been married she hadn’t “ruined a mattress” There were some small stains but nothing major. When I went in to remove the old mattress I could hardly believe what I saw. I was somewhat used to the smell of stale urine but this was overpowering. Elle saw it as I carried it out and it caused her to ask Millie why she hadn’t put any “protection” over it and she just shrugged. As I put the new mattress in place Elle asked if Janelle wore anything to help keep the pee in place and she said no. I was listening to this dialog and wondering what the woman had been thinking by not trying to help her own daughter. I managed to get Elle’s attention and told her that she needed to show Millie what she wore. Of course Elle wasn’t too keen on doing that but I pushed her on it telling her that even if Millie didn’t pass it on to Janelle she should at least feel better for having tried to help.

Elle went home and picked out the least stained heavy cotton panties she had and a pair of plastic panties. It was time for the kids to go to bed and I volunteered to do it so Elle could go back over to Millie’s. I didn’t think she’d be gone that long and when the kids asked where mommy was I told them she was helping Janelle’s mommy. They like Millie so that pretty much satisfied them. It was an hour later before Elle returned... and without the things she’d taken. I asked how it went and she said she didn’t know. At least I felt good in knowing that we’d tried to help. Only time would tell if we did.

MORE SUMMER FUN... August (Part 73h)

No one likes to hear about a death and my father was no different. He agreed it would be better if he told his father in person so he got in his car and took off while I stayed and talked with my mother for a few minutes. When I got back in my car I saw a bag in the back seat. It wasn’t mine but I really hadn’t paid any attention to what the girls had with them when we left work. Their house was only five minutes away and not out of my way at all so decided to just drop it off even though there wouldn’t be anyone there. It was sort of nostalgic driving down the road to their house as I remembered making grocery deliveries there a couple of times a week. There were three identical houses in a row and theirs was the one in the middle. I remembered that the back door was where everybody went in and out so planned to leave the bag on the back porch. As I drove up the driveway the view couldn’t have been scripted better. There was a clothes line strung from a pillar on the back porch over to the garage. It was one of those on a pulley so you could stand on the porch to hang clothes on the line and then move the line to add more. But another advantage was that people could walk under the line with minimal head ducking. On this day everything on the line was underwear... bras, panties and the father’s boxer briefs. But, as you already know, my focus was on the panties. I sat there and started to count the panties when I noticed someone in the yard next door. I quickly grabbed the bag and got out of the car and headed for the back porch. Even though I knew no one was home I knocked anyway. Actually, I knocked a few times and while I waited I was able to get a close look at what was on the line.

It was a pretty sight as they were all grouped by size. I don’t remember the total number of panties but I knew which belonged to the mother because they were bigger. The next group were nylon and since I’d seen GT’s panties when I’d cleaned the grease off her dress I pretty much assumed that they were hers. The next group were about the same size but I was pretty sure they were cotton. The last group were smaller than the rest so it made sense that they belonged to the younger sister. After putting the bag inside the screen door I hesitated at the top step as there were a pair of the mother’s panties blowing in my face. For a quick second I thought about taking them off the line but I dismissed the thought knowing that the girls would figure out how the bag ended up there. I also rationalized not taking them by saying to myself that they were too big anyway. Still, it was a nice memory of a bad news day.

HOME: Hanging over my head was the promise that I’d made to Elle that I’d let her friend Alice give me some tennis lessons. It wasn’t that I didn’t like tennis. It was that I didn’t have time for it. There were a number of things that I personally wanted to do but there weren’t enough hours in the day for them let alone time to play a silly game. However, I made the promise and had to live up to it. Thursday nights were the best for me. However, I wasn’t going to wear the ”tennis whites“ that Elle had made me wear a few times. Alice had no problem with that and focused on just two things... keeping my eyes on the ball all the way to the racket and then stepping in and turning my hips as I hit it. As I’d mentioned before I really wasn’t all that bad and Alice told me that my biggest problem was concentration. Hmmmm... As Alice was working with me three young women showed up and started hitting balls in the next court. Two were wearing tennis dresses (white) and the other was wearing a pair of very short shorts. I was looking that way every chance I got. The best ”look“ I got was of the girl in the shorts trying to reach over the net to fetch a ball on the other side. As she did her panties were sticking out of both legs. Oh my heart! She was very good looking and had a nice figure. It was no wonder that Alice was complaining about my lack of concentration.

Alice had a strange personality and one that seemed to always have me on edge. I’d mentioned it to Elle a few times and she said she didn’t see it at all. She was an attractive woman, maybe 10 pounds overweight and maybe five to seven years older that Elle and I. Back when she’d moved into the park I’d had an opportunity to see a pair of her panties up close. One of my favorite things was in knowing what brand of panties any female might be wearing and as Alice would hit balls to me I’d wonder if she was wearing the panties I’d seen. As I mentioned, I’d chosen not to wear ”tennis whites“ and so she’d chosen to wear a pair of dark plaid shorts which didn’t give off a good VPL so I was plumb out of luck in that category. When we finished up I told her I’d try to practice the things she’d been working on with Elle and that maybe we could have another lesson the following Thursday. She didn’t say yes and she didn’t say no. Seeing the players next to us wearing white and after having seen a couple of panty peeks I also told her that I’d dress ”properly“ if we did, hoping that maybe she would too.

MORE SUMMER FUN... August (Part 73g)

I got her to get out and pointed to what I thought the problems were. I told her I just couldn’t do anything with the car right then but I’d give her a ride to work. It was probably close to 7pm by then and I knew I was in for ”hot tongue and cold shoulder“ at home. Because of those thoughts I didn’t pay much attention to Rena. Once at the restaurant she asked what she should do about her car. It made me feel bad in that it wasn’t my usual nature to just brush someone with a problem, off. Wanting to get home I told her to give me her keys and I’d try to get it fixed. With keys in hand I drove off wondering how I’d gotten myself into this mess.

As I drove into the trailer park I found I couldn’t take my usual route to my trailer. The back road was closed off and as I checked the situation out found there was a trailer in the middle of the road with a broken axle. To get home from there I had to use the road my first trailer was on and saw Lance working on another of his reclamation projects. I hadn’t seen him in a while so asked him about it. As he explained I got the idea to ask if he’d help me with Rena’s car. He truly was a ”motor head“ and upon hearing the situation explained he was ready to go right then and there. However, I still had on my good work clothes and knew I still had to face Elle and her wrath before we could go.

Elle's complaint wasn’t the situation (not that I told her ALL the details) but it was that I hadn’t called. She had supper ready at 6pm and I wasn’t there. As far as me leaving again she was mad enough that it didn’t really matter. I picked up Lance and we went back to the County Center and Rena’s car. He totally agreed with one part of my diagnosis and that the problem was primarily due to a broken distributor cap. The normal places to find auto parts were closed but, Lance being Lance, knew a place where he thought he could get what we needed. A little riding around and we were back. It only took a few minutes to change the offending part and when he went to start the car it roared to life right away. After hearing it run for a few minutes he confirmed the rest of my diagnosis in that the engine needed a tune up.

Lance followed me to the restaurant driving Rena’s car. I didn’t want see Rena so sent him inside with the keys. When he returned he had a big smile on his face and told me that when he’d told her that her car was outside she ”attacked“ him with her thanks. Actually, that was the very reason I didn’t want to take the keys to her.

However, in spite of my somewhat concerted efforts to avoid her at work she eventually caught up with me. Thankfully, we were in a hallway and her ”thanks“ were muted because there were people all around. I just knew there would be more to come.

As we approached the end of the month the special HVAC unit had been installed for our new space and Jay was itching to get us moved as soon as possible. Since the County only leased the equipment from Remington Rand they demanded that they handle the move. Even though the partitions for the internal area of the new space weren’t due in until the middle of September Jay wanted to get the equipment in and running as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Labor Day weekend appeared to be the best choice. It certainly wasn’t mine.

Jay and I were in the process of marking out the location for each piece of equipment when Gina, Leo’s secretary, came into the room. That usually meant that Leo wanted to see Jay and that wasn’t good. But this time she was looking for me. She wanted me to come back to the Audit and Control office but she wouldn’t tell me why. As I remember it the time was around 3pm. I was puzzled, for sure, and once inside the doors she pointed me towards GT’s desk. (GT being the cute, young blond) As I approached I could see she was upset and crying. She blurted out ”Grampy died“ and went through another crying spell. It took a few minutes for her to calm down and when she did she said she wanted me to know as soon as possible since my grandfather and her grandfather were best friends. Then she dropped the ”bomb“ on me and asked if I’d go with her to tell her sister, Terri, who worked in the Treasurer’s office.

Death and I were were strangers. When my mother’s mother died I was just six years old. I didn’t really know her and when she died I was living with my father’s parents so had no memory of it at all. I didn’t know what to say or how to act. When we walked into the Treasurer’s office and got someone to get her sister I was dreading having to give her the news. I was somewhat spared because when Terri saw GT she pretty much knew from the way she looked what had happened. It was then that the second ”bomb“ hit.

They both took the bus to and from work. When their mother called GT to tell her she asked that the girls go directly to her grandparents house. With no car they had no way... except for me. I was in another difficult situation not of my own making. Jay and I had been making good progress and it would make it rough on him if I left. Thankfully, payroll was not a factor at this time. I told the girls that I’d have to get the ”OK“ to leave and then went to Jay to explain what was happening. He said he had no problem with it but I wasn’t sure about that when I left.

The grandparents lived in a town a little more than half way from where we were to where Elle’s and my parents lived. Since it was mid afternoon traffic wasn’t bad so it only took about twenty minutes. GT wanted me to come inside but I wasn’t up for that. I promised her that I’d let my grandfather know as soon as I could. However, as I drove away I knew I didn’t want to be the one to tell him. My parents house was only 15 minutes away and I quickly decided I’d go tell my father and let him be the bearer of the bad news.
